Hey all sorry if this a stupid question but I've been told I can't eat this from a friend! and wondering what you all think as I have been eating it! It's Lidl deluxe creamy coleslaw! Sorry again if it's a stupid question but my friend made me worry!

Your friend is wrong.

plixy · 06/09/2021 15:53

Yeah it's fine to eat. She's probably saying

KenAddams · 06/09/2021 15:54

Is it not you just need to watch of you make it with real mayo or something with raw eggs

Thefaceofboe · 06/09/2021 15:54

I mean they don’t recommend Mayo because it’s raw egg, however you’ll be fine in moderation, same as everything else they advise you to avoid.

plixy · 06/09/2021 15:54

Sorry sent too soon! She's probably saying you can't because of the mayo - advice is to be careful with fresh or homemade mayo. But shop bought stuff is fine.

NiceGerbil · 06/09/2021 15:55

I had some people constantly telling me I couldn't eat loads of things while Pg. Usually when I was cheerfully about to tuck in.

Go ahead OP.

MySixEggs · 06/09/2021 15:56

NHS website says you can eat mayonnaise if the eggs are British lion eggs.

SylvanasWindrunner · 06/09/2021 16:00

Yes it's fine. Shop-bought/mass-produced mayo is fine. The NHS advice is for mayo where unpasteurised eggs have been used, so homemade or artisan (and even then it's fine with Lion eggs).

girlmom21 · 06/09/2021 16:01

Tell her to stop policing what you're eating! Enjoy it.

SylvanasWindrunner · 06/09/2021 16:02

Also just stick to the NHS food advice. It's well laid out and tells you everything you need to know. Anything else that people 'advise' you about that isn't on there doesn't need to be followed.

www.nhs.uk/pregnancy/keeping-well/foods-to-avoid/

There are a lot of websites with dubious advice or aimed at pregnant women in other countries, particularly the US, where they have very different food standards.

Thanks all I thought I could! Yeh people always telling me you can't eat this you can't eat that! It really does my head in and makes me worry! Thank you all so much 💖
