4w pregnant & bleeding but HCG levels increased

Hi everyone

I'm currently 4 weeks pregnant but started bleeding yesterday (lots of brown spotting with one wipe of dark red). I assumed I was starting to miscarry as I have had this same thing happen at 5w previously which ended in miscarriage.

However the bleeding has almost stopped today, so I did a test and the line is stronger than it was 2 days ago.

Am I just getting my hopes up or could the pregnancy still be ok?

Has anyone else had lots of bleeding / spotting early on and turned out to be ok?

It could be nothing but HCG does take longer to enter/leave your urine. I found that I got darker tests for about 3 days after I started bleeding before they eventually started fading. The best way to know is by getting your bloods done but not every GP will offer that and there's a shortage on test tubes atm so it's even harder to get them done. All I can recommend is testing again in a few days to see if it's still darker or if its getting lighter and go from there. Hope you get a good outcome OP 🤞

Thanks @Rainbowroadx I will test again in a few days and see what happens. Hate the uncertainty of not knowing, although I'm preparing for the worst after what happened last time.

At 4 weeks that could very well have been implantation bleeding. I think it's quite likely you are doing fine :)

I really hope so @DiamondSnow! Thing is, the last time I had bleeding at 4.5 weeks I told myself it was implantation but turned out to be worst case scenario. Hoping and preying for the best this time!

Just updating this thread as I spent hours trawling through posts like these when I had the bleeding and was always so grateful when the posts were updated with the outcome of what happened.

After the spotting at 4 weeks, I had more (pink) spotting at 9 weeks. I'm now 13.5 weeks pregnant and had my second scan today which shows a healthy and very wriggly little baby with a strong heartbeat.

Hopefully this gives a bit of hope to anyone having spotting x

Hi CherryShine - I bled around 4 weeks or when period was due and thought it was my period. Felt deflated. But the blood was only there when I wiped and looked fresh but after 3 days of spotting it stopped abruptly - took a test and now 16 weeks :-)

Fingers crossed it's implantation - as someone else suggested, wait a few more days and take another test. I'm not sure how long HcG takes to leave the body should it be worse case scenario but fact you still got a strong line after sounds hopefully. Keep us updated Smile
