Potential nose growth 3d ultrasound

I know this is going to sound incredibly shallow.

We had a 3d scan yesterday at 28+2 and are feeling incredibly blessed that our baby girl is doing well.

However, to me it looks like she has a bulbous nose or separate growth on her nose.

It was a private scan and I asked the sonograoher who just said she looked 'cute'.

Do you think I should be worried?

Just want her to be ok and obviously if she is born with such a nose it won't be a problem.

I can never, ever work out what is what in a scan. If you are worried, then take that pic to your next midwifery appointment and explain you are concerned, and ask them to help you interpret the picture?

Don't worry about being worried IYSWIM, I think it is normal to fret a bit.

Those 3D images make them look like they're made of melted wax. DD looked like she'd been in a horrific incident at Madame Tussauds when we got one. If there was a problem with her nasal formation, it would have been highlighted at your 20-week scan or by the sonographer at the private scan as they have a duty of care to refer you if they see anything of medical concern. Scans are vulnerable to babies moving while the photos are being taken.

I had 3d scans with my ds and he looked like an alien. They were so bad! I am not sure you can read too much into these pictures.

Kollamoolitumarellipawkyrollo · 04/09/2021 16:19

Looks more like umbilical chord.

The 3D photos we had done made them look like they had extra bits and squished bits and actually pretty dreadful. Anterior placenta didn’t help either.

Thank you @lannistunut @SylvanasWindrunner @Barwell76

You've all instantly calmed me down and put me back on track to just being pleased she's doing OK x

I had a picture form our 3D scan in DDs room and when she was about 3 she asked if that was her when she’d been made out of plasticine! Grin

On our normal nhs scan I thought that she had the bottom of her leg missing with a strange claw on the end, but the sonographer quickly explained why it looked that way and showed me the rest of her. It’s so difficult for those who aren’t trained to tell what’s actually going on in these pictures.

I had a 3D scan today at 33 weeks, it looks bad, big goblin nose! It's just how the images are sometimes, I'm not worried. Sonographer was saying how sweet she looks..

FfrothiCoffi · 04/09/2021 17:02

Bloody hell mine looked like aliens at their 3D scans. Only a mother could think they looked cute Grin. Luckily they had perfectly standard features at birth!

Twickerhun · 04/09/2021 17:05

I was sure my first born was going be heavily deformed due to scan pictures. I didn’t tell anyone of my fears. when he was born it took me ages to look at him, just in case. He was and still is perfect. Turns out scan pictures are properly misleading. My second born can be seen having a good wee in her scan pictures.

WitchBaby · 04/09/2021 17:51

You've just reminded me, OP, there was another thread on here months ago asking about the size of the baby's nose on a scan. I wonder if that poster had her baby and it was a normal size? Grin (I bet it was of course, as will yours be).

Thank you everyone Smile

Dear god have looks now started mattering for girls before birth now

BusySittingDown · 04/09/2021 18:15

They don't keep still so the images blur.

Babies never have big noses! Even adults with big noses didn't have them as babies. Your baby is/will be beautiful.

NewLifePending · 04/09/2021 18:22

If it helps, this was my scan at 28 weeks and then my son at a week old. He is absolutely beautiful and perfect and no nobbly lumps or bumps 😂

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 04/09/2021 18:25

The only good 3d scan we had was with ds3 at 28 weeks. He was born at 31 and looked just like the scan

All the other 3d scans they looked like aliens with odd looking noses

My first thought with yours was possibly the umbilical cord
