Hi I'm 34 weeks + 3, earlier on around 5.30pm I suddenly felt really sick and had awful stomach/back pain and threw up a considerable amount, I also felt really hot and sweaty. I now have a really upset stomach and I'm just wondering if this could be early labour and if anyone had experienced similar? I haven't experienced anything like this in my pregnancy, I had morning sickness in early pregnancy but that had subsided and I haven't had an upset stomach this badly!

It sounds more like a sickness bug to me which are going round like wildfire at the moment. You can get awful cramps with that too! However, your best bet is to call your midwife team and they can either reassure you or check you. They encourage you to call.

I had same earlier in the week at same gestation and had to stay in for a night as had got dehydrated as had been being sick for 18 hours and not managed to get any fluid in, and movements had started to reduce.

Please keep an eye on your movements and if they reduce and/or you don't get any good amount of fluid to stay down after the first few hours of feeling crap please ring your maternity triage. I had a night on a drip and some other meds which made me feel better but it took a few goes to get a good CTG monitoring result so it was affecting baby to some extent too.

They said they were seeing more and more ladies come in with this bug where nobody else in the house was ill so there is something nasty doing the rounds. Fortunately after the night they let me out at teatime the next day and it just took another day or so to feel better. I think if I'd tried to manage as you would normally with a sickness bug we could have had a real problem brewing.
