Hi guys

I'm due to go for a cycle of ivf in about 10 days not been vaccinated. My job now says that it is law to continue to work there I must have my 1st vaccine by the 16th Sept and 2nd jab by the 11th November. So I'm thinking in November I will still be in my first trimester if the ivf works. Just wanted to know if people have had 2nd vaccine in their first trimester. Your answers will be a huge relief

I had my first jab the cycle before I conceived, and then my second jab at nearly 7 weeks pregnant. All was fine and just had a bit of arm soreness for a few days. I'm now 15 weeks pregnant and all is looking good!

Hi - I had my second jab the night before my period was due, and the night before my positive test the next morning. I was fine, slightly sore arm but nothing else by the way of a symptom. I’m 10 weeks now, and my baby was fine when I had a scan at 8+5.

The thought of miscarriage is scary, and I'll admin I thought very hard about getting my second jab. The way I thought about it was that unfortunately miscarriages are common, and usually the cause is never known. There's no evidence that the miscarriage rate is higher than usual in vaccinated women, but there is evidence of harm in pregnant women from having covid. I know a woman who hadn't had the vaccine who recently had her baby delivered by c section at 27 weeks after getting covid and is now on a ventilator. It made me very thankful that I hopefully have some protection if I did get covid.

I had my first vaccine around 6 weeks and second around 14 weeks, no side effects at all and baby's still doing great now at 24 weeks : ) due a booster as well apparently. Good luck with the IVF!

Bells3032 · 03/09/2021 12:28

Bear in mind there's not even a placenta at 4 weeks so you won't be able to pass anything to baby to make it miscarry. There's been zero evidence it has caused any higher rates than what would be normal in the population. and it is best to keep you and baby safe xx

SouthwestSis · 03/09/2021 12:47

Is there a reason you haven't been vaccinated yet? Please don't wait any longer and get protected as soon as you can!
I had my first jab at 5 weeks and my 2nd at 13 weeks and pregnancy has progressed well so far, all good on scans etc.

Hi sorry guys for not replying. I've been busy. Thankyou for all your replies.
I have been really worried about having the vaccine before my ivf journey starts but even before that cause I thought it might impact my fertility. After having a few tests I have decided to go ahead with ivf as I'm getting older. I have booked my first vaccination which is next Thursday and my 2nd will be in November. Hopefully then I will be pregnant, but early into pregnancy. I'm hoping fingers crossed everything goes to plan.

The fear of miscarriage is so overwhelming! I wish you good luck with IVF! I was pondering this as well, but finally I did my vaccinations before starting the cycles (I didn't plan it like this, but happened)

rttcbabyno1 · 06/09/2021 17:07

Hey 😊
I was really worried about this also, I'm about 5 weeks pregnant now after a year+ of trying (with clomid). I had my vaccination last month and conceived in the same month.
I totally understand your worries, I was the same and kept putting it off. We have a nurse in the family and I had the opportunity ages ago to have them done but I said no at the time. After some research and hearing about all the pregnant ladies in hospital I decided to get it. It obviously didn't affect fertility though, although like I say I was on my 1st month of medication too.
Anyway.. I'm worried about getting my second now I'm pregnant. I can't help it, I'm a worrier 😞😞 I'm really pleased I've had one already though. xxx

I had been having IUI/IVF for several years - so I had my 1st Pfizer jab during IVF (just before my 2nd IVF cycle started) and my 2nd jab at 4 and a half weeks pregnant.

I had no side effects for both jabs other than a sore arm - and I'm 12 and a half weeks along now and everything looks fine on my scans so far. Considering my previous fertility failures, the vaccination seems to have helped me get pregnant if anything! Grin Hope this gives some reassurance.

@39yearoldwantbaby just thought I’d mention that you might be able to bring your 2nd vaccine forward by a few weeks or more, that’s what I did to try and avoid key opportunities in my fertility calendar haha! A lot of walk in centres now take 2nd vaccines too so you could try that after you’ve waited a couple of weeks for the first one to kick in. Just a thought 😊 good luck with the IVF x

39yearoldwantbaby · 08/09/2021 20:22

@Hayesdays thankyou for that. Sounds a good plan how long do you have to wait before you have the 2nd vaccine. How long did you wait. Sorry if you don't mind me asking have you had ivf ?

@39yearoldwantbaby I think it’s 2-3 weeks you have to wait, I’m sure that’s how it started when they first started jabbing. But I’m sure you could ask your GP? Or phone a vaccination centre? I think I got mine down to an 8 week gap (was 12 weeks when I originally booked) and fell pregnant just before the 2nd jab, although I didn’t find out I was pregnant until 2 weeks after the jab. No I didn’t have IVF, I was just monitoring my cycles like a hawk whilst TTC. Hope that’s helpful 😊
