Early scan

Has anyone had a private early scan to see if everything is ok with baby? Heard you can get one at 8 weeks. I'm around 5-6 weeks and really impatient to wait until my 12 week scan as I want to know everything is ok. As the midwives can't tell a lot can they?.

Midwives won't do any checks at all regarding baby until either 16 or 20 week appointment when they might listen for a heartbeat. It will depend on your area.
An early scan should detect a heartbeat from 7 weeks ish, but going later is better. If you go slightly too early and they can't see anything you will just be worrying.
But remember that a scan at 8 weeks doesn't promise anything. You could unfortunately still miscarry, although it is a lower chance by that stage.

Hi lovely, I am the same and have had 2 private early reassurance scans! I had the first at 6+1 and the second at 8+6.
Scan at 6+1 had to be transvaginal as nothing could be seen via my abdomen so early. The scan showed a large yolk sack and a teeny tiny little bean with a heartbeat 💗
Scan at 8+6 showed a much bigger wriggly little baby, arm and leg nubs were wiggling away and a good heartbeat! 🥰
I'm currently 9+3 and still wake up grateful everyday that things seem to still be progressing well and I have no signs or symptoms to suggest otherwise. ❤️🤞🏻
However, as a previous poster has mentioned, early scans are just a snapshot of that moment and unfortunately do not reduce the risks during pregnancy and if you go too early you may not get the results that you're hoping for, and leave feeling more worried.
They should be able to rule out ectopic though, if that is a worry.
Ultimately I'd say do what feels right for you but also try your best to hold out until around 8 weeks as a heartbeat should definitely be visible by that point ❤️🤞🏻
