Sciatica pain

Hi lovelies, I hope you're well.

I'm currently 17 weeks & this is my first pregnancy. I've suddenly been experiencing a tingles and numbness in my feet to which I realised it's sciatica.

Night times are so traumatic because I wake up with pain attacks.

Has anyone experienced mild/extreme Sciatica? Does it get better? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Go see an osteopath or physio

There are some sciatica stretches on YouTube which can help. I get it in my bum and it’s worse at night, so I feel you. Hopefully stretching out will help if baby is pressing on the nerve or if anything else is

@tuxedocat if I do excercise right before sleeping, will it reduce the likelyhood of me waking up with sudden pain?

I’m not sure. The stretches are more like yoga ones, and I found it helped me sleep better but I do think it’s something you need to do frequently to help stretch things out. I did it once, it was great but I need to find some time to sit down and do it. There’s some very similar ones you can do in a chair etc

I’ve had this in both my pregnancies but fortunately it was only triggered by walking or standing in certain ways. It eased up for me later in pregnancy and I don’t recall having it before or between pregnancies at all. The stretches recommended by PP sound like the best solution for now, but just wanted to give you some hope that it’s likely not a long term problem. Hope you get some better rest soon!

Get a foam roller and roll on it before going to bed for 15-20 minutes - it will hurt like hell but it was the only thing that relieved the pain for me without having to go for appts! I found I had it for close to a month and then went away as baby grew and moved.

40 weeks tomorrow now and haven’t had an issue since!

@Sparrow91 this sounds like a real life saver! I'll start the roller ASAP before the pain gets any worse
