Hi,

I have recently found out I am expecting, and my GP has asked me to self refer to a maternity hospital for midwife assistance. This is my first child and I have a few questions : I want a hospital which has all the facilities and also has good staff. Want to check which one you recommend? The nearest to me is UCLH (1.9 Miles) and St Mary's (3.9 Miles) and St Thomas (2.5 Miles). Any other suggestions also please feel free to share!

lucky you being so close to all three. all three are fabulous hospitals. St Thomas has the best neonatal unit in the country but i think you'd be happy with any of them

Thank you @Bells3032! Would you have an opinion on which one has the best staff/midwife support? I am a bit anxious since its my first time and looking for a place where I can get a bit more handholding

Can't help there. I have a few friends who used UCH and were very happy

I'm still very early days but I have had a wonderful experience with UCLH so far, and I was under them for my loss previously and was consistently amazed by how kind they were.

Thanks @LittleGwyneth! Do you know if UCLH has consultant led delivery option?

So I have been reading and comparing hospitals and distances. Wanted to check 3-4 Miles is too far for a hospital? I am leaning towards St Mary's or Queen charlotte, purely because of the CQC rating and those are 3-4 Miles from my home. Compared to St Thomas and UCLH which are around 2 Miles
