Hello dear Mummas and Mummas to be’s.
Have been trying for donkeys years, last year Gynacology concluded that we have unexplained infertility, prescribed me Clomid. Have taken for 3 months, 50mg, for cycle day 2-6, had made me ovulate but no pregnancy yet. I’ve taken 3 months break from it, I’m going to restart today as AF of course visited. I was doing my little research and I’ve read that on cycle 3-7 there have been more pregnancies reported, now my question is should I increase the dose from 50mg to 100mg as well or stick to the 50mg?
Many thanks and sticky baby dust to all 💫 💕

Took one lot, didn't work. Realised i was stressed so left it for about 4 months and tried again on 50mg and he is now 2.5 years old :)
Days 2-6 a well, AND DTD every other day and also used pre-seed. Good luck!! xx

I got incredibly lucky and my first try with Clomid is turning 2 on Sunday. I'm now pregnant with DC2. Was expecting to need to use Clomid again, but apparently not.

Beth804 · 31/08/2021 15:45

My Clomid twins have just turned 1! I tried for 3 months at 50mg but still didn't ovulate (took days 2-6) then got pregnant first time at 100mg with twins!
To be honest, if you're already ovulating at 50 mg, I wouldn't up it to 100mg. I waited to see the consultant before moving to 100mg as I wanted to follow his guidance. Maybe try days 3-6 first? Good luck!

How are you getting on @zezzy? I've got everything crossed for a clomid success for you too!

I am currently 7dpo - it is my first month on 50mg Clomid and 1g Metformin. I'm 32 and DH and I have been trying for 2.5 years. We had a miscarriage November 2020 and a chemical before that.

I have a blood test today to check progesterone levels but I am fairly sure I ovulated (positive OPKs and clear, egg white CM galore! Haha!) I am so hoping I have conceived this month!! My breasts are sooooo sore, but I have read that Clomid can do that sometimes. We'll have to wait and see!

MrsPandherhubby · 19/10/2021 16:38

I'm currently 21 weeks pregnant after being on Chlomid 50mg.
Had been trying for three years, and our fertility nurse would only let us try for 6 months due to my age (37 at the time)
Month 5 and we got our BFP!!!!

PCOSWarrior · 19/10/2021 16:59

Oh @MrsPandherhubby congratulations!!! I am so, so very happy to hear this! Wishing you and your little one all the luck and love in the world!

MrsPandherhubby · 19/10/2021 17:16

@PCOSWarrior thank you. Was definately an OMG moment when we tested positive after feeling like it was never going to happen.
Sending you lots of positive thoughts and hugs for your journey!

I'm a clomid baby, all the way back from 1973.

Zezzy · 20/10/2021 20:38

@PCOSWarrior hello my lovely, thank you for asking, well… Ive been on an off Clomid, I’ve taken it for 3 months, no pregnancy achieved, took 3 months break, went on holidays, changed jobs, relaxed, took 50mg for a month, still nothing, have not taken last month, as I’m tired of trying and tired of being disappointed month after month. However I’m still doing my weekly acupuncture and manifesting and meditating, so i believe it is going to happen soon 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤰🏻🤰🏻👩🏻‍🍼👩🏻‍🍼👩🏻‍🍼
How are you getting on? Have you had your blood test results back yet? Fingers crossed for you my love, wish you all the best, keep me in the loop? ✨💫

@Zezzy I'm sorry it hasn't worked for you yet, but I am sure it will soon! Also, congratulations on your new job! That is really exciting too and I hope you're enjoying it?
I had my blood test back and it confirmed that I definitely ovulated which felt like such a big win! To ovulate on my first round - whether I am pregnant or not - is just such a cause to celebrate!

BUT.... I got overly confident and did a pregancy test today (9dpo) and got a BFN. I was so cross with myself afterwards because I absolutely know it is too early and I should have waited until next week but I just felt so hopeful! Bah!

I run a literary journal and have so much to keep me busy and occupied, but I have to confess to being a complete 'symptom spotter'. Any twinge, change, or moment of nausea I'm on the Flo app or Google! haha! Grin

Anyway, I am not letting it get to me - I'm going to put it to the back of my mind and wait until next Wednesday to test again if AF doesn't show up first. I have a bottle of champagne in the fridge ready! If I am pregnant then I will have sip of my boyfriend's glass, but if I am not, we're still opening it to celebrate getting through our first month of treatment and I can have a proper glass! Smile

PCOSWarrior · 29/10/2021 14:36

Update:
After a bonkers two weeks of symptom spotting and spending waaaaaaay too long on this forum and others, AF showed up today so round one of Clomid was not the one for us.
However a couple of positives:
I definitely ovulated! This in itself is quite a big deal for me. BUT I think it maybe happened Thursday instead of Tuesday when the nurse predicted it would happen so I don't think my partner and I timed things quite right.
Also, my poor boyfriend did get quite overwhelmed by the pressure of it all and so we didn't DTD anywhere near as much as we should have done that week. We only managed 2 out of the 7 days recommended. So we learned some lessons about how to approach it. I had been so fixated on my body doing what it needed to do, I didn't really even consider his and tbh I don't think I could have an orgasm if someone was coming at me waving a tube of fertility lube and a OPK strip yelling "C'MON! NOW! NOW! NOW!" Grin Grin Grin
I'll start round two of Clomid 50mg tomorrow and keep taking my 1g of Metformin and keep everything crossed for an August Bambino!

How is everyone else getting on?

SunnyLemonLurker · 06/10/2025 11:53

I’d say if Clomid already made you ovulate at 50 mg, it’s usually best to stick with that dose unless your doctor advises otherwise. Increasing to 100 mg can work for some, but it also raises the risk of stronger side effects and sometimes thinning of the uterine lining, which can actually make implantation harder. Many women do conceive after restarting, so it can definitely still happen even on the same dose and just a different cycle window.

In my case, my doctor prescribed Clomid after a few months of trying naturally because my ovulation was irregular. I ordered it from 👉 healway.co.uk/clomid-clomiphene, got my package really quickly, and the quality was excellent. I started the treatment as instructed and honestly, it helped a lot — I ovulated regularly, my cycles became more predictable, and within a couple of months, I finally saw that positive test. Don’t lose hope — sometimes it just takes the right timing and a bit of persistence ✨💕

PCOSWarrior · 07/10/2025 11:10

Thank you @SunnyLemonLurker That is really kind of you. This is an old thread but just to update in case someone stumbles across it:
Clomid Round 2: BFP but ended in early miscarriage

Clomid Round 3: BFP but ended in early miscarriage - after this I was able to access support via the Recurrent Miscarriage Centre in Manchester and the team there recommended that I begin taking progesterone from ovulation, rather than waiting to confirm BFP.

Clomid Round 4 (with daily progesterone supplements and strong dose folic acid): We finally had a happy ending and our little girl, Alice, is now nearly three years old and just the most perfect kiddo we could have wished for.

Sending love and luck to everyone on this journey xxxx
