Hi all,

This is my first time posting and was wondering if anyone’s gone through the same. My cycles are usually 32 days and regular for 7 days. I had spotting just before my AF was due and thought it may be implantation, took a pregnancy test which was negative, and then AF started. It was slightly heavier than usual and lasted the 7 days, so I ruled out being pregnant. Then 1 day later I began spotting pink/brown and bright red with cramping, which got me worried if I have some underlying health issue. I took a pregnancy test just out of curiosity and got a BFP. I went to the emergency gynae clinic as I was really worried they took a test there and confirmed the positive result and they also did a blood test. They did a scan inside too, and couldn’t confirm anything my I’m still getting cramps and continued bleeding. I’m waiting for the results back now from the blood tests, but they’ve noted it could be one of 3 options a miscarriage, ectopic or early pregancy. Has anyone else had anything similar to? It’s really scary and confusing, hoping that isn’t an early miscarriage or ectopic, but not getting my hopes up that it is an okay pregnancy :(

Hi OP.

I had very similar and mine was an ectopic. Fortunately I was able to have medical management rather than surgery. Once you've had one set of bloods, you'll probably have another 48 hours later to see how your HCG levels are rising. Unfortunately when you're this early on, scans don't show much and it's the rising of the blood levels that help diagnosis.

Wishing you lots of luck.

I think it’s impossible to say at this stage unfortunately, as awful as it is to not know.

I had heavy bleeding in the first trimester and pregnancy continued just fine, I’ve had a friend recently who had similar to you though and sadly miscarried, so it really could go either way I’m afraid.

Hopefully you’ll have some clarity in a week or so. Good luck Flowers

Hi @kirinm so sorry to hear about your ectopic, but that’s relieving that you managed to be okay with just the medical management. Thank you for your insight. I got a call earlier from the nurse who’s said my progesterone is really low so sadly it’s looking like it’s and an early MC or ectopic and to come back next week to confirm. I’m not having any stabbing pains just a ache, spotting and tiredness/heavy legs, so hoping it will soon pass. If you don’t mind me asking, did you have a lot of pain with the ectopic and was there any after side effects?

Hi @WhyOhWhyOhWhyyyy thank you so much for responding, glad to hear you had a healthy pregnancy, and sorry to hear about your friend. I think I am in the same boat as your friend after my bloods have come back earlier confirmed likely to be early MC or ectopic. Bit sad but guess it wasn’t meant to be this month

Xxxx

@Sunnyxo I didn't have any pain. My HCG levels didn't get beyond 500. They just stagnated and would go up slightly and drop and then rise again.

kirinm · 01/09/2021 13:01

Sorry, did you mean side effects of the medical management? Honestly, I can't recall as mine was quite a long time ago now. My main 'symptom' of the ectopic was spotting which carried on for weeks and was a very very dark red.

Sunnyxo · 01/09/2021 13:22

@kirinm sorry meant the symptoms of the ectopic than the side effects, thank you for the response, that’s helpful. Hopefully I’ll know more next week after the next set of bloods are taken
