If you spotted for 3-5 days before your period, how long did it take you to conceive?

Hello everyone on the pregnancy forum! Smile

I’m still over on the conception board but some of us have a lot of spotting before our period arrives, up to five days.

I wondered if anyone here who spotted but got their BFP could share a) how long it took them and b) if anything in particular helped? Did you see your GP?

Thank you!

Hi OP,
I have spotted with all of my pregnancies (I've had a lot of miscarriages but please don't focus on that part of the story).
As I also tracked my ovulation dates I had light spotting 3-5 days before my period was due, or 7-9 days after ovulation. My cycle each month is about 26-28 days long and under normal circumstances pretty regular.
I'm a religious early tester and would start getting faint lines after spotting finished. Also by the time my period was due the spotting was always over.
Highly recommended accunews test strips too, they're from home bargains and I swear they're the best I have used (and I've used every brand going).
Good luck x

I always spotted before my period, for years, brown blood for 3-5 days or so. I conceived first month of trying, and strangely enough after giving birth to my first I never had the spotting again!

It took me about 8 months to conceive each time. Maybe more. I took progesterone (natural progesterone from Amazon) and did reflexology the month I got pregnant

It took me a year to conceive the first time and I had loads of spotting leading up to period which was so so so annoying! That pregnancy sadly ended in loss and my periods seemed to ‘reset’ and I didn’t have any more spotting until I got my 2nd BFP about 6 months later. I started taking pregnacare pre conception after the MC too so who knows if that helped? I also had acupuncture the month we conceived but again the jury is out on whether that helped!

5 months, but we weren’t really “trying”, so it likely would have been faster if we’d known more!

I was always spotting before period and quite irregular. Took us 2.5yrs to conceive after we decided to stop trying. Had been to GP but nothing came up on the tests.

Oddly, after baby was born I stopped spotting and periods became regular and I conceived again VERY quickly.

I started spotting a few days before my period after having DC1 - this was due to an ectropion/ cervical erosion which has now healed by itself. DC2 was conceived without a problem, as soon as we started trying.

Good luck Smile

I spotted for 3-5 days every single month before my period- for around 4 or 5 years. I read so much that it could mean PCOS or hormone issues etc I was sure I’ll have problems getting pregnant and was upset about it for years.. it took me 2 cycles to get pregnant with my first son and 1 cycle with my second son ( due in 5 weeks). Turns out years of stressing out we’re just pointless. Don’t stress out. It could just be the way your body is and could be no issues at all x

I forgot to add that after spotting my actual periods lasted 2 days max! Sometimes 1,5 days and in extreme cases 1 full day and night and that was it. You can imagine I self diagnosed myself with god knows what. Had zero problems with conception so don’t worry, you can always do some hormone blood tests just to be sure

I would spot 7 days before my period. Sometimes on the first day it would be so heavy id think my period was starting and then it would ease off back to spotting and AF would start.
I had clomid both times to conceive and the spotting didn't change. Even on the cycles where I had BFP's.
