Rip bladder control (TMI)

Hello!

Sorry for the too much info topic but I need to feel I am not alone! My bladder control/pelvic floor is quickly deteriorating 😫. At 30 weeks I sneezed and had a wet patch on my trousers! I was careful and thought ok that was probably unfortunate.

However at 35 ish weeks I started to leak slightly and stop it right away but started using maternity pads (and taking a towel to bed). Which is lucky as now I'm week 37 and it's just getting worse. Yesterday at a bbq I could feel myself leaking more often for no apparent reason (no changing positions or laughing to trigger it) and it was either coming out more than a leak/quicker of I am not stopping it as easy/quick as I used to.

I told my midwife at my 36 week appointment who just told me to do pelvic floors (I always needed a wee before being pregnant so used to exercising this!) but find it's just not as strong as it was in general now. I was 3/5 of the way engaged at that appointment.

Am I right in thinking exercising the pelvic floor would only get you so far with this or is mine generally just bad? Or could it be the baby has moved down further and this is actually inevitable at some point? I don't think I could be expected to tense my pelvic floor all the time or is that just something people have to do?

I have a wedding next week (which was silly to agree too) and thinking I should layer up pads and buy adult nappies 🤦🏻‍♀️. Please someone tell me I'm not alone!!

I’m only 24 weeks and my bladder control has gone kaput, I had a really poor bladder before anyways but pregnancy has made it 50 times worse and I feel like I’m going to wet myself all the time and if the baby kicks my bladder (which she does often) I tend to end up wetting myself a lil bit, Ive found adult nappies made me feel a little better when out in public even if I didn’t need them, they really aren’t as bad as they sound OP...try the always discreet pants 😁

No advice but just wanted to let you know I’m at 27 weeks and I’ve had issues for about a month when sneezing / laughing so you’re not alone. I’ve just downloaded the NHS Squeezy Pelvic Floor app (£2.99) to remind me to do my pelvic floor exercises as I’ve not been doing them

Thank you both! I have bought some of the adult pant things now 😅. My midwife today said I am very engaged so I'm hoping this is the worst it gets! 🤞🏻

Good luck to you both in your pregnancies and hopefully the weeing doesn't get much worse!
