First time mums, when did you start showing?

Hi,

So I’m currently 11-12 weeks (app says 11weeks when I went for a scan thought I was 7+2 but the scan said I was 7+6)

I feel like I’m already ‘showing’ I wake up and my tummy is still pretty flat with a teeny bit of bump but within half n hour seems to pop out and full on bump by end of day. I’m an 8-10 on my waist usually!

I’m really stressing about the weight gain and I’ve basically lived on beige foods last few weeks as all I can manage but I’m worried I’m already bigger then I should be. My MIL has commented and said I’m big for where I am at!

When did everyone else start to show?

Hi, congratulations!
I started showing around 20 weeks. However with my second pregnancy as soon as I had something to eat I'd get really bloated so I started "show" around 12/13 weeks

Mellous · 29/08/2021 14:16

I’m 15 weeks and have just started to show I think!

jojojo82 · 29/08/2021 14:24

Congratulations! The first time someone congratulating me without me saying anything was when I was 18 weeks ... I still just felt like I was looking bloated from food, but it seemed not!

NW2021 · 29/08/2021 14:39

Congratulations! I just felt bloated really till about 28 weeks. I’m tall though so not showing as much and it’s my first. I’m 32 weeks nearly and defo showing now!! 😂
Everyone is different and everyone’s bodies are different I wouldn’t worry.

AllSinging · 29/08/2021 14:42

Congratulations! I started “filling out” (it felt like I was chunking around my waist) around 12/13 weeks (I was a size 8-10 before becoming pregnant) and I’m 17 weeks now with a definite bump ❤️
I felt quite self-conscious at first from reading posts on here saying that there was no way people “show” this early but that’s ridiculous (and I know that now). Every body, every woman, every baby and every pregnancy is different and it’s own journey ❤️ I’m fully embracing my little bump now x

Peppapigforlife · 29/08/2021 14:57

İ think it's normal in the early stages to look like you're showing when it's just bloating. İ was showing in the beginning and then the bloat disappeared by the second trimester and then i just gradually started showing again

Bells3032 · 29/08/2021 15:04

I was showing by about 10 weeks. At 18 weeks I have a deff baby bump. I've overweight too but don't really carry my weight it my tummy. Some people "pop" earlier and then slow down and others seem to just grow overnight at like 30 weeks.

coffeewithmilk · 29/08/2021 15:06

I was definitely showing at around 10 weeks.. but I think it was more bloat.
I'm now 17 weeks and have a very obvious small bump.
I was paranoid that I was showing so early but every pregnancy, and every bump is different.
Congratulations

Mammyloveswine · 29/08/2021 15:13

I didn't show really at all until about 30 weeks both times!

I remember one of the parents asking me when I was due and I said "3 weeks" and she assumed I was only about 5/6 months gone.

I was very slim in both my pregnancies.. if I were to have a third I'd probs be huge because I am overweight now (thanks lockdown and toddlers Grin)

Mammyloveswine · 29/08/2021 15:14

I definitely think everyone is different.. I remember feeling like I was showing early but looking at back at "bump" pics I took I definitely wasn't!

Mammyloveswine · 29/08/2021 15:17

Ps congratulations! Do not worry about weight gain, it evens out definitely! You are growing a whole other person! Your body is amazing!

Thefaceofboe · 29/08/2021 15:39

I had a huge amount of bloat till about 15 weeks which then went completely. I didn’t get an actual hard, baby bump till 24 weeks ish. I’m still very small for 34 weeks

Trinacham · 29/08/2021 15:41

I think at about 15 weeks. Started to feel bub at 17 weeks, husband could feel it at 18 (where I am now!)

Jonesy88 · 29/08/2021 15:41

I couldn’t wear my normal jeans from 11/12 weeks as I was definitely bigger but at13-15 weeks I “debloated” and got smaller before now going back again. I’m 18 weeks and although if a stranger saw me I think I’d just look round at my middle, those who know me can tell the difference.

Pix89 · 29/08/2021 15:44

I noticed around 15/16 weeks but only started to really "show" at 20/21 weeks. I'm now 29w and have had comments that I'm "all bump" and "I expected you to be bigger" so just ignore your MIL. Everyone seems to want an opinion and has no filter when they see a pregnant lady!!

Pitstop1986 · 29/08/2021 15:56

I had a little mound on my lower belly from very early on (6-7 weeks) but as the day went on it got progressively more bloated. If I was constipated I was bloated and huge from the minute I woke up. That went down at about 12 weeks, to be replaced with a more firm bump a couple of weeks later. I've been in maternity jeans since about 15 weeks and now at 21 weeks I have a firm bump which is all baby (can see it pushing out in certain areas when baby moves) that sticks out way past my boobs.

I dread to think how much bigger I'll get with 4 months still to go! It's all out in front though, I still have a waistline so maybe that has something to do with it.

Mindyourbusiness22 · 29/08/2021 16:29

I was full on bloat until 4ish months. Then month 5 I had a proper bump.

nellly · 29/08/2021 16:52

I showed really early and was noticeably different by 10 weeks! People were shocked when I told them I was only 16 weeks as i looked 'huge' HmmI was slim and muscular before though so didn't have much space to hide it I guess. It plateaued and now at 35 weeks I have very normal size bump.

sociallydistained · 29/08/2021 17:00

I’m 18 weeks now and feel massive but can sort of get away with it a bit but feel I just look fat so I want to show more obviously in a way. I’ve definitely developed a second stomach which is solely down to over eating that I hate 😫

bengalcat · 29/08/2021 17:03

Noticed a slight bump myself at 16 weeks - to the general public probably noticeably pregnant at 20 weeks or so

DelurkingAJ · 29/08/2021 17:07

About 22 weeks but I’m tall (5’10”) and therefore have more torso for the same volume bump! DS2 I was complaining that my clothes didn’t fit before I realised I was pregnant…

SundayTwizzle · 29/08/2021 17:09

I wore my normal jeans to my 20 week scan, I think I was about 30 weeks before I looked noticeably pregnant! I'm quite wide on my bottom half though.

Scirocco · 29/08/2021 17:31

I started finding my fitted jeans tight at 12-13 weeks, started dressing strategically at 13-14 weeks, and bang on 15 weeks someone I hadn't seen for a while asked if I was pregnant. I'd say a bump got noticeable in the latter half of week 14/ start of 15. (at least to overly inquisitive female relatives!).

BigGooseyLucy · 29/08/2021 17:44

Congratulations!

The smaller you are the earlier you show . You said your waist is 8-10 so you are tiny so likely to show sooner rather than later!

How exciting for you

VegMam · 29/08/2021 17:45

I was bloated from about 6 weeks, went down a lot 12-14 weeks. Now at 17 weeks I definitely have a bump and none of my clothes (except leggings and loose tops) fit me.

I have been quite self conscious about my bump when I read people say they didn’t show until 20 weeks but I think everyone is just different.

I’m normally a size 6-8, sporty build with a flat stomach. Im trying to embrace my new body shape but as well as a bump I’ve definitely gained a layer of fat on my belly which I’ve never had in my life.
