Persistent headaches

I am 14 weeks pregnant and over the past week have had a continuous headache. I go to bed with it and wake up with it. Paracetamol doesn't seem to help. I've had my blood pressure checked and all is within range. I was just wondering if anyone has experienced this, and any advice you may have? TIA x

I had the same for a good few days at around 15 weeks. It’s horrid isn’t it! I would just try and rest as much as I could, lie down in a dark room and try and sleep. Make sure you’re drinking lots of water as well. If it carries on over a couple of weeks, book an appt with your GP but hopefully it’ll ease for you. Oh I also saw someone recommend 4head roll as well, I haven’t used it but worth a try x

Not preg but have you tried drinking a dioralyte ? Also try eye drops for dry eyes .. not preg but have persistent headaches and these seem to help!

Hi! I too have severe headaches since the beginning.... I am 16 weeks pregnant with identical twins from ivf. I am going for a scan this week and I need to talk about that. Sometimes a small coffee helps for some reason. Tension is good, heartbeat too, could it be due to increased blood flow due to pregnancy, double in my case? It is hard to manage sometimes. I will let you know if my Drs suggest something to ease the pain

I’m also 14 weeks and have just started getting really horrible tension headaches in the past week or so. Sleeping sometimes alleviates it though not always, and paracetamol and staying really hydrated has been largely ineffective.

However, somebody recommended using a ‘4head’ stick and I am now a convert. I was so, so doubtful about it and didn’t believe it could possibly work, but it’s been a godsend the past couple of days. Safe to use during pregnancy. You’ve got nothing to lose!

I get really bad pregnancy headaches/migraines from around 14 weeks - 25 weeks (has happened in both my pregnancies so far 😩🙃). Keep up with the paracetamol and definitely another recommendation for 4head stick! Absolute game changer, i have one in every hand bag just incase! Hope it improves for you soon!

Thank you so much for all your recommendations. Will definitely give them a go! I have hyperemesis, which doesn't help with hydration but seem to be on top of my fluid intake at the moment, with the help of medication x

I had this too, 21 weeks now and just about our the other side. Mine were always either when I woke up or about 4-5pm and paracetamol does naff all - so frustrating when you can’t have ibuprofen!

Drinking a LOT of water did help a little.

I had headaches during pregnancy & got told it was hormonal changes & to take paracetamol. I started with crippling migraines about 6 weeks after giving birth & got told that they would go once my hormones settled down back to normal, it took about 6 months for them to stop.
