Can I be pregnant after having a baby?

Hello I am really hoping someone can help. So I have a 6 month old child & have been breastfeeding so not had a period yet. Myself and OH had unprotected sex 2 weeks ago. The other day I got the most horrendous pain in my left hand side radiating around to my back. Could this be implantation? It was exactly 2 weeks after the unprotected sex. I am also having pain when baby is latching on. I have had some discharge aswel. Have took a test which is negative. Could I be pregnant???

Breastfeeding isn't always a reliable contraceptive and you can ovulate before you get a period so yes in theory you could be. Only way to tell is to keep taking tests and/or wait for a period (or possibly ask a Dr to confirm?)

I have took a test again today which is negative. I have read implantation pain is at the bottom of the stomach rather then 1 side but im sure with my first baby it was at same side

If it’s been over 2 weeks since unprotected sex (and you’ve not done it since) and tests are negative, you’re pretty unlikely to be pregnant. Give it another week and test again to be absolutely sure.

If you’re having unprotected sex then yes, you can definitely be pregnant. Test again in a few days, and sort out contraception if you don’t want another baby!

Of course you could be pregnant. Ovulation comes before periods, so lack of periods is no indication that you're not fertile.
Have another test in a few days.
If the pain continues, check with a doctor.
And sort out contraception if you don't want to be pregnant just yet.

We are trying for another baby which is why it is unprotected. I am at the doctors tomorrow. They said that it may be to early to test at moment

I think you had a username fail here.

Do you mean you are going to the doctors tomorrow to get tested? They will use the same tests, so not really any point. You just need to wait and test again in a week or so. Whilst you could be pregnant, you likely aren't yet.

No they are doing blood tests for different things after they have examined me. They need to make sure it's nothing to do with my c section scar

Of course you can be pregnant. You had unprotected sex what do you expect.

You ovulate before you have a period so yes, you could be pregnant. Breastfeeding can only be used as contraception if baby is under 6 months and you haven't introduced other foods/drinks

Yes, my friend got pregnant when her first baby was 4 months old. She had assumed it wasn’t possible as she was ebf, and hadn’t had a period. Along came her second daughter when her first was about 13 months old! They’re super close now at 13 and 12.

I don’t actually know, I think working backwards it was 5 weeks. Boobs were weird every feed, felt horrid, felt a bit sick. That was it. We were trying though so I was randomly taking tests anyway.

I hadn’t had a period but we’d started weaning DC so not taking as much milk. I’m 38 weeks now so can confirm.. you can get pregnant whilst BFing😂.

@FTEngineerM I have noticed now when daughter latches on it really hurts. Yeah we are trying also. Ah 38 weeks bet u are excited.

I have been to doctors who said she think it's ovulation pain. She thinks a pregnancy test would be positive by now ( unprotected would have been 3 weeks on Friday) don't understand though why I am knackered & 1 boob is really sensitive when she latches on.
