Ocarro vs. Oyster 3? And, best time to buy?!

Hi!

I'm 14+5 and went pram browsing for the first time today! For us, we settled on either the Mamas & Papas Ocarro or Oyster 3. Anyone chosen between these two? And what did it come down to for you?

At the moment I am leaning towards the Ocarro, but with a £350 price difference in the bundle I want to make sure I get the best deal.

Is it worth waiting to Black Friday? Or is there generally a good time to go pram shopping?Currently the best deals I can find for Ocarro Cloud Z bundle is £1,399 and £949 for the Oyster 3 bundle.

Really interested to hear your thoughts.

Thanks all!
Smile

We just got our Ocarro cloud Z bundle delivered at the start of the week and I absolutely love it already! I looked at the oyster and just felt that the Ocarro looked and felt better. The cloud Z car seat is also really cool 🥰 x

Also.. the cybex car seats and bases can be around £450 for both so take that into account with the price!

Brilliant! I agree, I preferred the look of the Ocarro and I felt it was a little sturdier. The Cloud Z car seat is reclining, whereas the car seat that comes with the Oyster 3 (Oyster Capsule I think?) bundle isn't. So hard as they are very, very similar! I'm wondering if I could get the Ocarro down to a similar price in a sale? X

If you join Emma’s diary there are some good offers on various items- there is a bundle here at babyplanetonline.com if you go via Emma’s diary. I will try to link but not sure it will work….

Ah just realised that may not be the version you wanted sorry, but worth a look

@JourneyToParenthood definitely shop around, I know very seem to do it in bits and pieces. We ordered in store at mamas and papas and paid it up. I think we ordered at 20 weeks and it had to be paid 28 days before delivery and arrived last week (37 weeks) we also got a £100 voucher to spend because of the amount it cost 😂

Hi,

Glad I've stumbled on this thread. I really like the look of the ocarro as well, and it comes highly recommended by a couple of friends, but admittedly still haven't been and had a proper look. I'm due mid January, and wondered if I waited until Black Friday and paid it all at one whether 6 weeks or so is usually ample delivery time?

Thanks

I'm not sure either, and I'd be interested to hear if the Black Friday offers are usually worth waiting for Smile

Would you consider second hand? There seems to be quite a few Ocarros on Facebook Marketplace, admittedly not with all the bits and pieces, but a fraction of the cost! Only thing putting me off is the lack of warranty. Not sure if it is advised to buy second hand travel systems? Confused

I went for the Ocarro bundle as it seemed very sturdy and my friend loves hers, I also had my heart set on the cloud z car seat as it just seems so handy. I haven't used it yet (baby due next month) but I was very lucky to have generous grandparents who bought the bundle for me! Otherwise I probably would have gone second hand on the pram and bought the seat new.

I believe the cloud z bundle is exclusive to mamas and papas. Also something to note, I bought the onyx bundle at £1499 back in May and I can see they must have inflated the price to mark it as 'sale' at a higher cost now which is really cheeky - www.mamasandpapas.com/products/ocarro-onyx-comp-10pc-cloud-z-ss21-6868w9005?utm_term=37759603900581&gclid=Cj0KCQjwvaeJBhCvARIsABgTDM4_hsYpU8vekGwGddr54yDi4kWYmrCfxNT-C-hSl3NYTumM9IXBu7YaAkDtEALw_wcB

Also make sure you book an appointment to buy in store. I spent another £15 on a car mirror to get me over the £1500 threshold which meant I could get a £150 voucher back which is only available in store (if you spend £1000 you get a £100 gift card back)

We have the occaro with cloud z bundle. Can't comment on it as I'm still trying to get the baby to make an entrance! But we booked a personal shopping appt with mammas and pappas. Then you get a voucher. Spend £1000 get £100 voucher, £1500, £150 voucher etc. It didn't take money off the price, but it gave us £150 to spend on other stuff we needed so it was a saving over all.

@JourneyToParenthood

I don't have any experience of the Ocarro, but we did take the leap and go secondhand when a buggy we'd had our eye on came up on marketplace. We ended up going to look at it and it was in great condition, from a lovely local family at 1/4 the retail value. I was a bit worried ahead of time that it wouldn't be in good condition, clean, etc but as soon as we saw it I had no regrets! Much cheaper and I felt good that we were being somewhat eco-friendly (esp given all of the baby gear we are buying at the moment!).

Completenovice1 · 29/08/2021 08:48

I think I would consider a second hand pram, but I believe (could be wrong here!) that it is recommended to get a new car seat? We're quite lucky in that family would like to buy us our pram, but I just don't like paying over the odds for anything even if it's not me paying 😆 I did have a Google to see if the ocarro had any good Black Friday offers last year.. managed to find some articles/ads that suggest it had quite a decent discount.

mummyh2016 · 29/08/2021 08:53

I had the ocarro 4 years ago when it first came out, used it until DD was 3, never bothered getting a pushchair. We still have it and will be using it for baby number 2.

Whatshouldicallme · 29/08/2021 09:14

@Completenovice1

Yes, it is important to get a new car seat for safety reasons. I personally wasn't fussed about the car seat attachment for mine, but you could of course always just buy the car seat separately if you wanted!

thatsnotmyzoo · 29/08/2021 09:19

I’ve had the Ocado for 2 years now and it must be verging on having gone a thousand miles. It’s great! Really sturdy and would easily do a DC2 too. Lovely to push. My only negative is I think the basket is a bit of a pain, it can be hard to get stuff in and out of.

I always felt the seat and bassinet on the Oyster looked a bit small.

Thefaceofboe · 29/08/2021 15:41

We got the ocarro which I love, but didn’t get the bundle with the car seat as we wanted the new 360 maxi cosi one instead.

sienna14 · 29/08/2021 16:00

Do you live up north? Mamas and Papas have an outlet shop in Huddersfield. We got our Ocarro pram, including the carrycot and a footmuff for £350.

bloatedorpregnant · 29/08/2021 18:36

We’ve ordered the Ocarro today as part of a bundle with the Cybex Cloud Z car seat. We ordered it from Pramworld which was already cheaper than buying direct from Mamas and Papas and they’ve got 10% off for the bank holiday. We weren’t planning to order it today but couldn’t resist with the money off. The only downside of ordering it from Pramworld is that I don’t think you can get it in all of the colours but we managed to get grey which is what we wanted. Might be worth a look!
