No, I've never heard of this. I've had three babies and it didn't happen to me.

Garman · 27/08/2021 18:19

No, why would you?

Tataru · 27/08/2021 18:19

I never had any bleeding during pregnancy. Lots of people do but I've never heard about the placenta thing. Give your midwife a ring, OP Thanks

No, you don't.

There’s loads of reasons you can bleed in pregnancy, some concerning and some not, but I absolutely don’t think bleeding when the placenta takes over is a thing - there’s no physical change that would cause bleeding happening.

What stage are you at, op?

Some pinky red colour just when I wiped, stopped now

It mightn't be anything to worry about, but do get it checked out.

I bled with my first at 12 weeks. Thought I was misscarrying. A doctor advised me the bleed might have been due to the placenta taking over. So, yes, it is a thing but I don't think it's common. My baby was fine.

I had a scan last week and she said everything looked good and could see a heartbeat

I had a bleed at 14 weeks. It was due to having a low lying placenta. The placenta moves up and as it moved there was a tear which caused the bleed. Bleeding in pregnancy is more common than I thought. When I saw blood I just presumed miscarriage, I'd never heard of the placenta causing bleeding but the doctor told me it is quite common.

I did actually. Around 9 weeks x

I had a small bleed, have been for a pravite scan and she said she couldn't see any reason why I bleed as everything looked fine, so maybe it was the placenta taking over
