Constipation in Early Pregnancy

Anyone else experienced constipation in early pregnancy?

I'm 6 weeks pregnant and I was NOT expecting this until much later down the line. I feel so uncomfortable and just want to poop but nothing is happening.

I feel like if I phone the GP they'll think I'm being melodramatic. I've had a spoonful of flaxseed on some Weetabix with some fruit this morning in the hope that it'll flush things out but I guess now I'm on a waiting game for it to work through my system.

Any help, advice or sympathy appreciated 😥

Yes it's been bad for me and still is and I'm 17 weeks now. Advice I was given was weetabix (which you have), lots of hot water and lemon/lime to drink, eat dates, prunes or figs each day, snack on fruit like apples, grapes and pears, and drink a cup of coffee the morning that you want to 'go'. Orange juice with bits also - a glass each day. Less appealing advice, but which has helped a few times, is to wrap loo paper around your first two fingers and press down firmly on the skin between the vagina and bottom while on the loo. I was horrified to try this, but sometimes it's the only thing that helps get it out.
I think midwife can help at your booking appointment, but I can kind of manage doing the above diet changes so didn't take the prescription

Dear God, I have just tried the two fingers in the loo roll thing and my goodness the relief, the relief!!!😭😭 Thank you so much for suggesting that. I've been trying to go all morning. I'll definitely be much more strict with my diet from now on. I'm not having another 30 odd weeks of this!!! I'm a bugger for forgetting to have breakfast in the mornings but I think the prospect of being constipated for ever more will be enough to make sure I eat it!

It's horrible but so glad it worked for you! Even doing all of this stuff (and switching back to whole grains after the morning sickness stopped) I can still only go every other day. Apparently it gets even worse as you get bigger too 😭😭😭
Being pregnant definitely isn't the most glamorous so far.... even my partner is now asking me about my toilet habits like it's a normal topic of conversation

I suffer from this! Why is Weetabix so good? Just curious... ;)

I feel that. My partner and I have done nothing but talk about poo all morning 😥

Not sure because I tried other high fibre cereals but this did seem to be a bit better, so sticking with it, tho a bit sick of weetabix
