Hi,
I'm so worried it's taken me over a year to get pregnant and I have covid I'm 5 weeks 1 day felt quite rough the first 2 or 3 days it's now just like a head cold, but I'm really worried in case covid can cause miscarriage plus I don't have any pregnancy symptoms, anyone also had covid early like this but it turned out fine?

Hi @Sef89, I had Covid when I was just about 6 weeks pregnant. I went for an early scan at 9 weeks and everything was fine. I have seen a lot of posts on here of people early on in pregnancy catching Covid and going on to have a perfectly healthy baby. Look after yourself and try not to worry too much.

I had covid at around 8 weeks. Felt horrific, called 111 several times. Now 37w and baby is just fine. It will be ok x

Have you managed to have both jabs yet?
Luckily risk earlier in pregnancy is not as bad as later in pregnancy. Take care of yourself and seek medical attention if you start having chest pain or feel short of breath

I spoke with my GP regarding this recently and she believes it's only later in pregnancy it can affect you
As your body grows your lungs are pushed up and pressure on them due to pregnancy anyway so Covid on top of that can cause issues.
As well as getting a high fever can put into early labour which is the risk
I think earlier on you are okay

Have you had both jabs? I think the main thing with Covid during the first trimester is to check your temp regularly and take paracetamol when needed if it's raised - you could also ring your GP to see if there is anything else you can do to keep your temperature as "normal" as possible. As pp said, Covid is more worrying in the 3rd trimester, so I'm sure it will be okay.

I've had 1 jab, my symptoms have been like a head cold with cough. Also I have no pregnancy symptoms which is worrying me

Hi there, I'm currently 5w2d and just tested positive for covid too. No symptoms yet for neither covid or pregnancy apart from slightly sore nipples! I've mostly read it seems to be OK in early pregnancy so fingers crossed! Xx

Hi Sef89

I had covid when I was 5 weeks. It totally flattened me for about 2 weeks, cough, fever etc. I am now 9+5 and haven't got my smell or taste back yet.

I had not had either jabs.

My husband and I went for an early scan as, like you I was really concerned that Covid had affected the pregnancy. We went at 8 weeks and discovered we had 2 healthy little babies growing seemingly oblivious to the covid I had!!

Hi! I also had covid at 5 weeks pregnant, we are both fine and I’m due in a few weeks :)

Ganesh2022 · 17/12/2021 12:06

In same position now. Thx for reassurance x

Hello, can I ask how baby is now? I am in the same position now and worried about development on baby and risk of birth defects!
