Anyone experienced this?

They've sent it off to rule out infection but I don't feel like I have one.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

I had this too in early pregnancy - they did some more urine tests and then they decided to leave it. It hasn't been mentioned since and I am now 27 weeks.

I had a few urine infections during my second pregnancy, all picked up during routine samples and all had traces of blood. I was never aware of them. I had no pain at all with any. It's probably just a urine infection. Quite common during pregnancy.

Apparently it's common for some women not to notice UTIs. I once worked out that I thought I had a UTI 5x and got tested and only had it 2x. I had my urine randomly tested 7x (for operations, health checks, doctor visits) when I didn't think I had a UTI and of those I tested 5x positive. I also regularly had some traces of blood and protein in my urine and it turned out to be nothing. The medical professionals said it can be that I may have had an infection and it cleared up by itself or that some women just have protein or blood in their urine. Whatever it is for you, it's good they picked it up and are looking into it but it's most likely to be nothing.

In my first pregnancy and also found blood and a trace of protein in my urine! They said it could be a UTI but I haven't had any symptoms for one either, think they're common without symptoms during pregnancy because of the extra pressure on your bladder?

Hoping to get some results back this afternoon.. Sorry I can't be much help right now but I'll keep you posted xx

I’ve had this in both pregnancies- it seemed odd to me as I usually get fairly awful symptoms from UTIs, but they definitely seem to present differently in pregnancy.

They will always send samples off to the lab for culturing if they find anything with the dipstick, just in case you are carrying anything more concerning such as group B strep infection. I actually had that picked up in my current pregnancy, and was a bit worried about it, but it just meant they gave me a course of antibiotics to treat the (assumed) UTI, and then I will need IV antibiotics at regular intervals during labour to reduce the risk of the baby picking up the infection, as it can cause sepsis in newborns.

Hopefully it isn’t anything like that and it’ll turn out to be nothing- but if it is, then it’s better to know about it and treat it.

I had this too. They just asked if I had symptoms of a UTI - I said no and that was that. They didn’t send it on either just took my word for it.

I had a UTI early on with my first that I (mercifully) didn't know anything about until my booking urine test, a short course of amoxicillin and all was well again. Hopefully that's what's going on with you too OP 🙂

I had this earlier on in pregnancy, they sent off for testing to check for possible UTI (no symptoms so wasn't overly concerned), but never heard anything (she said I would only hear if there was a problem). Not had any since.

Personally I think (TMI) it was because I held the pot too close and contaminated with discharge - midwife did say that can happen, so now I always hold it away :-D

anxiousannie465 · 25/08/2021 17:56

@Amz6219

I did that, I literally hardly needed a wee so I held the pot right up there to catch the bits I could do, I wonder if that's what's happened 🤔
TMI but it was touching my bits haha
