37w could this be trapped wind or piles?

I'm 37 weeks pregnant and for the last 4/5 days I have been getting really bad pain in what feels like my bowel area. It lasts for a couple of minutes and stops me in my tracks it's so uncomfortable. Only happens a couple of times a day. I initially thought it was trapped wind/needing a no. 2. Or maybe baby just putting more pressure on that area - head is engaged.

I spoke to a midwife this morning and they didn't seem concerned and thought I could have piles and to talk to my doctor. Can't get an appointment with my doc till tomorrow. But I've looked up the symptoms of piles and it doesn't sound anything like this!

Just wondering if anyone has had something similar?

Sounds like wind to me x

With my first I would get a weird pain radiating down my back whenever I needed a poo. It could be very intense and stopped as soon as I had the baby. I actually mistook early labour for needing a poo for 24hrs and it wasn’t until my sister pointed out the pains I was having were regular that I realised they may be something else. I haven’t had it this time round but I do get trapped wind that’s very familiar and can take my breath away. Have you tried windeze?

Thanks for the replies both. I'm pretty sure it is trapped wind/needing the loo as it seems to come on just before going to the loo/passing wind. I just didn't think it could be this uncomfortable! I can't really do anything until the pain has passed! No I haven't tried windeze - I will have a look, thanks!

Give peppermint tea a go. I know the feeling you've described and that's all that helps me. I'm constipated a lot and I think the tea must break down the wind I can't pass myself

Trapped wind and/or bowel cramps can be excruciatingly painful.

Oh and orange juice every morning, that helped the constipation which also helped the pain. Good luck!
