i’m 28+2 and i’ll be having a growth scan this afternoon, i haven’t seen baby in a while and i’m really hoping i get a picture of her! do they usually give pictures at growth scans? i heard that they do if sonographer can get a good picture of baby, is it easy to get a picture at 28 weeks?

I had a growth scan at 34 weeks and wasn’t offered a photo.
It was clear from the video screen that the images of baby were all very much close ups of different parts of their body, there was no getting nice profile shots etc.

Having said that you’re having yours earlier and I did have a private 4d scan at 29 weeks where we were given fab photos.

It probably depends on the hospital. We got pictures at all of our scans. We had scans at 7, 11, 20 and 34 weeks. The 34 week ones were good, we got a very clear scan of his face but as above, they're very close up so we may have been lucky with his position at the time to get such a good face one!

Think it depends on the hospital , mine doesn't but the scan lady at the 28week one kindly gave me one as she was so pleased at how clear his face was on it and was in a really good position

I didn't when it was on the NHS but I did when I paid (same location)

Garman · 24/08/2021 13:44

I don't get any at growth scans.

CanofCant · 24/08/2021 13:56

I've been given one at every growth scan required in my last two pregnancies but as mentioned this depends on the trust. Good luck, hope all goes well.

Amichelle84 · 24/08/2021 13:59

I did at my 28w one but not my 32w.

I haven't started my growth scans yet but in my trust you pay for the scan pictures (contactless card payment) so I expect if there are any 'good' images from an aesthetic point of view that we'll be offered the chance to purchase.
I have had some private scans with all the associated downloadable images.

I had growth scan at 31 weeks and she gave me one picture (I hadn't actually asked - second baby syndrome!)

They have always done them for free at my Trust with the COVID/no money handling situation (12 weeks, 20 weeks and now 31 weeks)

Bufffy · 24/08/2021 14:10

Downed with DS2 they have me one at every growth scan but DD we didn’t get didn’t get any at growth scans.

You can always ask. They’ll prob be happy to give you one for yeh usual cost

sken92 · 24/08/2021 14:13

I got pictures at all of my growth scans (between 30 & 37 weeks) all a profile of head & shoulders. I’d guess it depends on the day if they’re able to get a clear shot for you but never been an issue for me!

Leonberger · 24/08/2021 14:20

I didn’t at any of mine, I barely saw the baby as it’s mainly zoomed in on skull/abdomen and femur.

honeybeesknees · 24/08/2021 14:24

I have been given pictures at all of mine, and never asked for them. They apparently suspended payments for them when partners couldn’t attend due to covid, but partners are now allowed to attend, and they haven’t restarted payments.

8dpwoah · 24/08/2021 14:31

I got one but I think that was partly because the sonographer got a really good face pic and also because they kept us waiting for the first appt of the day.... Have another one next week so will see! I think it will definitely depend on the trust though.
