Blighted ovum 9 weeks pregnant

Hello
I have just been diagnosed with a blighted ovum, empty sac, no baby inside at a private scan. I am 9 weeks 1 day, I went in at 7 weeks and today and it was confirmed. I have not had my booking appointment yet, it's next Friday, do I just go to it and tell the midwife there or should I go to hospital before? I am not bleeding at all, so I'm wanting to get the miscarriage started hopefully.
Thank you

I’m so sorry you’re going through this it’s really devastating 💗 did the private scan refer you on to the hospital? Are you in the UK - if so, when this happened to me I called the Early Pregnancy Unit / emergency gynaecology unit and they saw me there. They’re the best people to help rather than the booking in midwife. Sending you all the best xxxx

I had also spoken to a midwife on the Tommy’s charity hotline who was really helpful and explained a bit more and was able to get me the number for the local hospital EGU (emergency gynae unit). GPs are also able to refer you to the hospitals EGU/EPU if you’re able to get hold of your GP

Very sorry for your loss. Flowers I've just had a MMC myself at 8 weeks, taking pills as it's not coming out on its own. I wouldn't wait for your appointment as it's quite a while, as Seashell says I'd call EPU but think you can also call your midwife and she'll direct you to the right place. x

Thank you so much ladies. Yes I am local in London. I wanted to call the EPU at Royal London but they said they're only taking referrals from GPs. So I don't know how long it will take before they actually call me in. I just hope the miscarriage starts before then.

I am so sorry ❤️ Can you ask your GP to refer you to the EPU? Mine managed to refer me on the same day for a scan the next day. Tell the receptionist the situation when you phone the GP surgery so hopefully then the GP can just do a phone consult and refer you. This is what I did and I was surprised at how quick they got me in (twice now).

Thank you @cossmoss they have booked me for a phone interview with the GP on Friday and hope she refers me that same day

That's good news, really hope they refer you quickly. Keep us updated if you feel you want to. Take good care.❤️

Good news @dreealondon. Hope it’s a straightforward process for you from here. x

@dreealondon can I just put it out there that you are so so SO strong. I couldn't even come to Mumsnet while I found out I had a blighted ovum. You're an inspiration!

I'm so sorry for your loss.

After my MMC I had the pills, but they didn't work properly so I then had to have surgery. I would recommend going straight to surgery - it's much less traumatic. Flowers
