Just looking for some companions to get through the next few weeks with.
34 weeks now, feel like the size of a house. Belly has measured a week ahead at each midwife appointment but seems to have accelerated in terms of growth over the past week. Acid reflux is a nice new symptom. SPD making most movements quite hard. Constantly too hot and not sleeping great. Don’t get me wrong, I am super grateful to be pregnant but shit this is getting hard now.
Anyone else due early October that fancies a good moan, chat about birth plans etc, let me know!! :)

Has anyone else started snoring? I'm not sir eof it's pregnancy or because covid messed with my nose

8dpwoah · 25/08/2021 22:46

Honestly the feeling of getting your body back after those first few days of shell shock is amazing. You can bend down! You can get off the sofa however you fancy! The snoring and dribbling stops (mainly because you aren't sleeping so much...)! You can have a beer and a steak and the nice cheese and....

And I say this as someone that was pretty poorly and had an episiotomy to heal and a medicine cupboard full of new, temporary medications. But the feeling of being able to move about normally after a week or so of recovery was immense and strangely liberating (maybe a bit longer for c section of course). AND you get a baby to cuddle too! Ok you still have to carry the baby around but it's so much easier when it's not trying to burst out of your skin whilst simultaneously wedged under your ribs and using your bladder as a pillow.

Braxos · 26/08/2021 10:00

33 weeks here and totally feeling the same. Pregnancy IS beautiful and magical and totally amazing, and ALSO bloody sucks arse.

I am sooo done already. So much so after some recent complications and consultant talking about induction at 37 weeks, my immediate thought (after of course hoping bubba will be okay)... was thank fuck for that 🙈🙈🙈 Probably not the best attitude to have, but something almost reassuring about knowing its not going to go on and on and on. 🙈

3rd baby for me so I'm finding it extra tough not being able to "rest" with having to look after my boys especially during the summer hols. Hoping once they go back to school, it will feel a bit easier 😁

8dpwoah · 26/08/2021 10:30

Lol @Braxos I'm staring down the barrel of a 37 week induction as well and the only thing against it for me now is being away from my toddler if it takes as long as it did with her! But there is something to be said for knowing a definite start date to it all even if we still can't know the exact end date (and all that goes on in-between 😬)

8dpwoah · 26/08/2021 10:38

Although, I did have some big movements last night and I feel/look to me like I've dropped today which I'm not thrilled about at 33 weeks (other than the indigestion might give me a break today as a result).

Greenrubber · 26/08/2021 14:50

So I went for a scan today! Apparently lots of heartburn = a hairy baby lol
The sonographer said its an old wives tale that seems to be correct! Could actually see the hair on my scan
Anyway I'm getting induced a week before my due date but a few sweeps next week to try and speed stuff up as my baby is big apparently 😳
Can't wait to meet her

Bumpsadaisie · 26/08/2021 14:55

I remember this feeling. Second time around he didn't make an appearance until 40+11!

It is really hard but the purpose is so that when it comes to the birth you just don't care about it any more. Whatever it takes to get that baby out.

When your little one is born, not only do you have a little baby but you are also FREE!

Bumpsadaisie · 26/08/2021 14:57

I was expecting the newborn phase to be awful but tbh the joy of having my body back helped me to sail through! It was tiring and hard but I was empty of baby! When she did sleep, I was ALONE!

Ummm21 · 26/08/2021 22:31

Ah ladies thanks for sharing. It really does give some comfort knowing it’s not just me feeling like this!

@Greenrubber ummm yes to the snoring, I sound like a bull according to my husband. He’s had to start wearing industrial ear plugs as he says he doesn’t even get a chance to fall asleep first as it takes me all of 5 seconds to fall asleep when my head hits the pillow 🙈😂

34 + 5
So grateful to be pregnant but just exhausted.
Spent two nights in hospital this week with constant back pain and what we think Is very strong braxton hicks as they were painful but cervix still not dilated which is good. Pains back tonight again and the last place I want to go is the hospital. Have had severe sciatica this whole pregnancy to and a lot more anxious due to covid, and giving birth again. Hopefully the next 5 and a bit weeks don't be long!!

Also been measuring 3 weeks ahead since 29 weeks so also have a very big baby!
twinningatlife · 27/08/2021 06:10

I had this at 34 weeks earlier this year ....except I had twins on board 😬
I begged the doctors to get them out at one point - they did actually end up coming in an emergency a couple of days later - think the babies knew mummy was done 🤣

Bellyrumble · 28/08/2021 18:16

How are you all doing with the bank holiday?

I’m shattered now, ended up in maternity ward last night with pains, which turned out to be intense Braxton hicks, but when there they’ve picked up high BP, protein, swelling and I’m now on twice weekly monitoring and extra scan to try and monitor for ore eclampsia

As if I wasn’t exhausted enough already!! Roll on finishing work in 2 weeks :D

FTEngineerM · 28/08/2021 19:03

How many weeks are you @Bellyrumble ? Glad the pains weren’t contractions but it’s mad that you just knew something wasn’t quite right! Your body just have been telling you.

Bellyrumble · 28/08/2021 19:22

I’m 36 weeks so a little while to go yet! But very strange yeah!

Happily doing sod all now all weekend in the hope that abs my tablets bring it down before I go back on Monday

Bellyrumble · 28/08/2021 21:52

Oh dear sorry to post twice in a row here but I’m so upset and need a bit of a hand hold/ someone to tell me to calm the F down!

I’ve just had a call from the hospital… my protein was 37 (30 is elevated) so they’re keeping an eye on that in addition to the blood pressure and swelling

We’ve been told someone on the unit tested positive for covid yesterday when I was in there. Husband and I both did lateral flows before going in…. Why they’ve allowed someone else in without that j don’t know- I’m so annoyed!

We both have to isolate for 10 days so to 6th September. I sincerely hope everything stays okay until after then otherwise he misses the birth of our first baby. I’m so upset 😭

I’m due 23rd…. I’ll be keeping my legs firmly crossed and declining any induction so long as it’s safe to do so!

Bear this in mind ladies if you’re attending any appointments- it’s lovely to have partners with us but so close to due dates it’s really not worth the stress of them potentially missing the big day. I wish he hadn’t come with me last night now

8dpwoah · 28/08/2021 22:17

Do you definitely have to self-isolate @Bellyrumble? I thought the rule for close contacts had been changed recently that pretty much nobody has to now? Fingers crossed for you in every way anyway Flowers

Bellyrumble · 28/08/2021 23:06

@8dpwoah u fortunately he does yeah :( his second vaccine is booked for 5th Sept and the no isolation only applies if you’re more than 2 weeks after your second dose :/

Because of our age bracket we weren’t offered vaccines until quite recently ans he took his straight away.

I haven’t had mine as I’d been advised no throughout pregnancy until they changed the advice, but even if I had, I wouldn’t of had both doses yet either due to age and when it was offered

I feel like I’ve probably overreacted and I’m emotional due to lack of sleep and hormones but I’ve been really upset all evening. I think I need to just concentrate on keeping BP low, baby in for another couple of weeks abs realise I couldn’t have done anything different/ stop blaming myself!

8dpwoah · 28/08/2021 23:15

Ah bugger yes I forget everyone isn't old (so got called for vaccine ages ago) like me 😬

Definitely take it as chance to chill as much as you can but you're totally right that there's nothing you could do- although I would be asking the question about how somebody covid positive managed to get anywhere near you if they have a policy of showing LFT results even just so it doesn't happen again. We weren't asked when we went to consultant last week which really surprised me. Although saying that I went for a scan in June and there wasn't even anybody taking temperatures at that point so the old 'protect the NHS' seems to have been forgotten by the NHS itself round my way!

Bellyrumble · 28/08/2021 23:37

I’m absolutely fuming about it- I suspect it was a patient, which can’t be helped but there should be more control to stop this happening

The policy for partners/ supportive adults at our trust is to show a negative Lft and my husband showed his immediately on entry

They advise women to do them but they can’t turn you away for treatment can they do I susie to that’s the loophole/ issue. And if you’re poorly then you’re less likely to remember maybe

I’ve been doing them twice weekly anyway and had done one weds pm, but I still did one before leaving for hospital yesterday (within 48 hours of my Wednesday one!) as I remember thinking I didn’t want to potentially infect anyone if I had covid- to me it’s common courtesy not to go into a ward of vulnerable people without testing first :(

There was a partner who was told to wait outside because he hadn’t done a test… I do wonder if it was him as he was sat in the waiting area by us- I don’t think he should have been allowed there next to patients Tbh.

But then also think if he didn’t do a lat flow, it’s unlikely he would have done a pcr and Told the hospital today either? He smelt of cannabis- I doubt he would have been capable of doing any kind of test 😂classy.

So was probably a patient. I just hope we get through the next 10 days without the baby (I was previously wanting him/her out ASAP!)

Greenrubber · 29/08/2021 00:14

@Bellyrumble

When I tested positive for covid my LFT were negative until after my positive PCR test so it's possible whoever did go in did have a negative LFT

Sorry to hear you have to isolate but hopefully you won't get covid

Try and get some rest

Sending you Flowers

WideOpenSpaces · 06/09/2021 19:47

How is everyone doing?

heygirlhey · 06/09/2021 21:00

@WideOpenSpaces I'm so over this...38+1. Had the worst bout of heartburn and reflux last night that's stayed all day plus a case of the runs (tmi sorry)! Tried milk, yogurt, peppermint tea and now resorted to Gaviscon. Genuinely feeling miserable and ready for her just to come out!

Hope some folks are feeling better than me! Fingers crossed we all see our bubba's soon.

FTEngineerM · 06/09/2021 21:34

39+2 and fed up ☹️ lots going on as well so everything suddenly feels like bad timing.

How’re you doing @WideOpenSpaces ? Has your partner felt any movements yet?! 😃

@heygirlhey sorry you’re feeling so bad, I’ve noticed that lately even on iron tablets which is meant to make you constipated 😬 totally not constipated.

WideOpenSpaces · 06/09/2021 21:42

37 weeks near enough and this is my last week at work. SO ready to finish!!
Yes, he has ! Haha there's no mistaking it now, it seems to be shifting around all the time and we had some spectacular hiccups last night that seemed to go on forever 🤣
Just clock watching now... ticking off the days... trying to enjoy the peace and quiet (mostly in the bath!)
