Can you go to an ultrasound if you have cancer ?

Hi,

I found out today my mum has been diagnosed with breast cancer, she is booked in at my gender ultrasound in less than 3 weeks, will she still be able to go to it?

She's really worrying and thinks she's disappointing me if she doesn't come.

I just want to figure it out ASAP so she can stop panicking and instead put her all into her treatment.

I will call the ultrasound place on Wednesday when they reopen to confirm, but just hoping someone on here will know.

Thanks so much x

Why wouldn't she?

People actually with cancer have ultrasounds so I would not even give it a thought. Hope your mum is OK!

Hope your mum is ok, can’t see why she couldn’t go with you.

Yes. It’s repeated X Rays and MRIs that get restricted for certain specific cancers.

...also not seeing why on earth you'd think she wouldn't be able to. Is it that you are concerned about the Covid risk to her due to immunosuppression? That's her decision to make, or she can talk to her consultant, but presumably she's double vaccinated.

Thanks everyone!

It was my mum that was convinced that she wouldn't be able to come, I think she's had so much information given to her today about her treatment and how long she has left, and was told all the things she couldn't do, but it was too much information for her to take in, so now she's really panicking and questioning everything 😞

Also, yes thankfully she's had both vaccinations for a while now Smile

No radiation is involved with ultrasound or MRI scans , it’s unnecessary X-rays and ct scans she should avoid , although no one should be having these unnecessarily anyway.
