Any advice would be much appreciated please.

I have recently got a positive home pregnancy test (Yay!) Will be around 4 weeks pregnant. I have been experiencing period like cramps for around a week, is this normal? I am due to see the nurse next Thursday to confirm pregnancy and will mention this to her but wondered whether I should contact them sooner or of this is a normal experience this early on?
Thanks in advance

My situation was a bit different as it's a IVF pregnancy and cramps can be also caused by the pessaries they give you for the first couple of months, but I had frequent cramps from around that time. When I went for my scan at 7 weeks, the IVF nurses weren't worried - apparently it can be common as the embryo fully implants and uterus starts to stretch (some women feel it more than others). I think they only get concerned if the cramps are also accompanied by significant bleeding, or if the pain is really sharp and more to one side.

Hi,
I have am in exactly the same position as you. 4 week pregnant and having cramping also. Its my first pregnancy so I'm of course worried too. However, on researching, I think it's quite normal? Am also going to discuss with the nurse too though. :)

Absolutely normal and it will continue for ages yet. I was still getting them at 16 weeks. I remember asking my midwife and it's all normal. As long as they are not really painful of course! It's just everything stretching, blood flow in the area etc. Xx

Yeah I had that too felt like I was on my period and was about to bleed at any point! Was very worried but it is normal :)

Thank you all so much, definitely makes me feel abit more at ease to know its quite common. It's definitely a bearable period like pain was just more anxious than anything. X

Definitely normal. I’ve just had a positive test and am having lots of cramping pains. I have 2 children and also had this with both of them. In fact both times I was so convinced my period was on its way I went out and bought pads and was astounded to find out i didn’t need them!

Yes I had them, phoned GP as was convinced I was going to go to the toilet and find blood. Healthy pregnancy.
