Back to back baby?-read this

I just wanted to reassure anyone who has got a back to back baby. My first two were back to back and I have just had my third (1 week ago) who was not back to back. I can honestly say that I did not find the first two labours any more painful than this third one, in fact I found it strange to deal with contractions all round rather than just in my back. There wasn't a significant reduction in duration of labour with my third either.
Hope this helps someone as I have only ever heard scare stories about back to back labours and wanted to allay some fears.

Just thought I would bump as my first baby was also back to back and I was not in as much pain as I thought. with my second who was not back to back the pain was about the same from what I remember (my second labour was very quick. one push and he was here)

Congratulations Jossie on your new baby.

I am due any day now with second baby. I had horrendous back to back labour first time so was actually rather hoping that the early labour bit would be rather less painful and that the duration would be considerably less than 40 hours!

Obviously I am expecting the actual birth bit will be more painful this time, as I was fully drugged up by that point last time and didnt get the full experience of the head crowning and am planning home birth with just entonox this time.

bumbleweed - I had a horrible back to back labour with my first. No's 2&3 were much faster and I felt much more able to let my body get on and do what it needed to do. I think much of my problem with no 1 wasn't so much that he was babck to back but that I had been in hospital for a couple of days and was tired & stressed. Think the pain level was about the same but different sensations and a lot more fear the first time round.
So good luck with your no 2, hope you have an easier / faster time and get the HB you are planning.
