Hi everyone!

I've just found out I'm pregnant (4+2) and have some sour cream and chive dip from aldi we were planning to have tonight.

I know I can't eat anything unpasteurised but this contains dried whole eggs?

These are the ingredients:

Soured Cream (33%) (𝐌𝐢𝐥𝐤), Fromage Frais (𝐌𝐢𝐥𝐤), Mayonnaise (26%) (Water, Rapeseed Oil, Cornflour, Spirit Vinegar, Whole 𝐄𝐠𝐠 Powder, Sugar, Salt), Onion Chive (2.5%), Cornflour, Salt, Preservative:Potassium Sorbate.

Is it safe to eat?

Thanks!

It'll be fine. Dried is is usually pasteurised.

@QuestionableMouse Thank you. I'm so worried (can you tell it's my first 🙈😂)

You're welcome! Try not to worry so much. 😊

There’s actually only a few things to try and avoid when pregnant and it’s all here:

www.nhs.uk/pregnancy/keeping-well/foods-to-avoid/

Enjoy your dip!

Thanks both 🥰 I had a few breadsticks and enjoyed them! 🥰🥰

Does anyone know if there is a pregnancy food scanning app or something similar? I'm fed up of using Google 🙈

purpletrains · 20/08/2021 21:49

@Everly18

The list is small. No need for an app

Just have a read through the list on the nhs website

Dont eat those things

Everything else fine

Everly18 · 20/08/2021 21:54

Oh, I can't see seseme seeds on here? Google says it's a no no 🤔 I bought a hummus dip but just realised there are sesame seeds in it! 🤷‍♀️

SaveWaterDrinkGin · 20/08/2021 22:11

Why on earth wouldn’t you be able to eat sesame seeds?! Stick to the NHS list, other countries will advise different things.

It’s mainly about avoiding things with a food poisoning risk as you’re slightly more susceptible when pregnant and the very small number of foods which could be harmful to your growing baby e.g. fish with mercury levels.

Of course you can eat sesame seeds in hummus. Stay away from non UK sites!

I have no idea, it's just what Google said. It's been a long time since I last had a baby so i feel like I'm a nervous wreck and new to everything again!

Nhs suggests sesame seeds as a source of calcium if you are vegan and pregnant

Thank you 😊

Sesame seeds are fine!
There really are very few things you should avoid:
Some soft and blue cheeses (unless heated)
Products with unpasturised milk
Cold cured meats (unless heated)
Pate
Undercooked meats
There are limits to the amount of certain fish you can eat
Limited caffeine

Most of those are particularly an everyday things anyway so pretty easy to avoid!

Zzzzfthg · 20/08/2021 22:20

most of those aren't* particularly everyday things!

idontlikealdi · 20/08/2021 22:29

Anything you buy in a uk supermarket will be pasteurised. It's fine.

Farmers market raw milk, cheese id be careful if, the rest is fine.
