Ciclyzcine side effects - did they fade for you?

Been put on ciclyzine by my gp but have the worst tiredness/dazed and dopey feeling. Vomiting is way better, nausea still present but not as bad! I’ve been told that side effects lessen over time, was this the case for you? I’m worried because I work 13 hour shifts in a hospital including nights! Plus I have a 3 year old dd I can’t do anything with ☹️

Definitely. First couple of doses basically knocked me out and I fell asleep on the sofa. But it faded in a few days and I took it throughout my entire pregnancy with no other side effects.

Yes. First baby it worked like magic for a week and never worked again. Second baby never worked at all. Didn’t waste my time trying it for third.

@Knittingupastorm that’s really good to know! Did you take the full dose? (3 times a day)

Oh hang on, I misread the op. The anti nausea bit is what faded really quickly. I don’t remember side effects but I’d barely been able to get out of bed so dazed and dopey probably felt like a huge improvement.

Same as @Knittingupastorm - I was like a zombie for the first 48 hours and then the tiredness rapidly improved, probably by 72 hours I had no drowsiness. Was taking 3 tablets a day.

Littletoaster2021 · 20/08/2021 10:56

Also, cyclizine hugely improved my nausea and vomiting but didn’t control it entirely so I tried it in combo with various others - don’t be afraid to ask for that if it’s not doing the trick. Pregnancy sickness support have lots of advice about this.

No side effects..but after a few weeks it stopped working

thingymaboob · 20/08/2021 11:03

I have taken cyclizine 3 x a day for 8 weeks now and it took a couple of weeks for the drowsiness to go. You need to take it 3 times a day for it to really help, in my experience. I know if I've missed a dose. Take a couple of weeks off whilst you adjust then assess if you're well enough to go back

It didn't fade for me. I didn't feel safe to drive, let alone work. Ask your GP to sign you off sick.

Blondiecub0109 · 20/08/2021 11:10

I ended up taking cyclizine in the afternoon and evening but stemitil in the morning. Don’t take them both in the same dose tho - personal disco Blush

Whosthecrazy · 20/08/2021 11:53

@Blondiecub0109 that made me laugh out loud! Definitely no personal disco wanted here 🤣

I can’t really get signed off with work - I’m a student midwife so if I can’t make placement I’ll fall behind 😭

I’ve just ordered some vitamin b6 to take alongside it 🤞🏻
