Have my first appointment with my private obstritican next week (we've had a quick phone consult before that). I've put together a list of questions, do you think there's anything I am missing?
- Given previous health issues what birthing options would be best?
If C-Section
- At how many weeks do you generally perform C-sections?
- How long do you generally stay in hospital afterwards?
- Do you do steroids in the lead up to CS
If natural
-
What drug options are there e.g. mobile epidural/water births etc
-
How long do you recommend a stay afterwards?
-
At what point in labour would I be allowed to come in e.g. when water breaks, when contractions are five minutes apart, one minute apart etc
-
At how many weeks would you recommend induction if not started labour yet
-
Do you do Strep-B testing or will I need to arrange that myself.
-
Are partners now allowed to stay over (obv subject to change if there are future lockdowns)
-
Is it likely family will be allowed to visit by January?
-
When do you recommend signing up for full care?
-
What additional scans etc do you do later in pregnancy?
-
What happens with post-natal visit that’s usually done by local healthcare provider?
-
Can I ensure that cannulas will not be left in for hours and then flushed (past experience with this happening and it getting clogged up leaving me in agony)?
-
Do you do cord banking?
-
Is the nursery open/Is there support with breastfeeding etc?
-
What usually happens with cover over Christmas (I am due January)?
