Hi ladies bit of back story I'm 32 weeks 4 days went for routine scan on Wed was told babys heads engaged I then told her about my increase in discharge and my lower back pains she referred me to fetal ass unit where I tested positive for early labour got admitted and given steroid injections I asked to come home yesterday and monitor myself from home (she didn't want me to leave) as I have another child but my back ache is constant havnt noticed them coming in waves just there all the time and so sore.

no pains anywhere else I have severe insomnia can't sleep feel nauceous before I left hospital I was told my cervix is soft and 1cm dilated I just wanna no of any other mums that went through this and if back pain only (no tummy cramps no waters breaking and no show) was ur sign of labour starting? If so how long before u gave birth?

Delivered my son at 34 weeks 4 hours-ish after back pain like you describe started. I'd call the just in case.

Lilrach657 · 20/08/2021 07:28

Thank you this backache has been with me now about a week if I call up they will want me back in and I'm not sure what good that does if I'm not in labour yet lol

If baby comes this early it will need some help from the neonatal unit, did someone speak to you about the possible implications of prematurity?

Hoping things settle for you OP and you have a few weeks of pregnancy yet!

Soubriquet · 20/08/2021 09:25

I went into preterm labour at 27 weeks

My signs were a clear out, and then strong contractions which went on for hours.

I went to hospital and

Lilrach657 · 20/08/2021 09:55

No they didn't mention anything about what would happen if she came early they just said if my back pain gets worse I have to go back but it's not contraction pains I'm having it's just a constant ache that dosent go away at all so I'm not sure if I should be taking up a bed lol

Better to be checked than leave it, baby will need help in the neonatal unit if it comes quite early. If you’re not in labour then that’s good news but if you are at least you’ll be in the right place at the right time. I understand you’ve got a child at home that needs to be looked after however if the midwives truly feel hospital is where you need to be then I’d take that advice. Good luck! X

Agree with Lauren122. My boy was in NICU on breathing support with a feeding tube after birth at 34 weeks. Your little one is a bit safer as you've had steroids already (helps the lungs) but truly you need to heed all of their advice here as this early it's likely medical help is needed.

Hi,

Im also currently going through the same experience. 33+2 today. On Monday I had some discharge and lower tummy pains, reduced movements. Went to hospital on Tuesday and had the pre term labour test which came back positive. They wanted to keep me on but didn’t have a bed for me, so I came home and have been told to just rest and keep an eye out for labour symptoms. Currently still have lower tummy pains and backache but they haven’t got worse. Xx

Lilrach657 · 20/08/2021 12:26

Thank you everyone for ur advice, lauradanxx I hope our babies don't come too early I don't have any tummy pains literally just the back ache it is getting worse can't get any ease unless I'm on my yoga ball on all fours lol (can't stay there all day) fingers crossed our bubbas hold off a while🤞 xx

@Lilrach657 Yes definitely hope they can still in longer. Have you been advised by the hospital to rest? Xx

Lilrach657 · 20/08/2021 16:31

Yea once they agreed I could go home they told me to "take it easy" xx

LauraDanxx · 20/08/2021 16:35

@Lilrach657 Have you been given a follow up appointment or anything? I wasn’t offered steroid injections. Xx

Lilrach657 · 20/08/2021 16:38

LauraDanxx · 20/08/2021 16:41

@Lilrach657 I haven’t been given any follow up appointments and when I called yesterday to check if another swab result had come back, I got my head bitten off. Xx

Lilrach657 · 20/08/2021 17:07

No way I would not be putting up with that 😒 I'm so sorry they were horrible to you xx

@Lilrach657 Thank you. Trying to work out what the best thing to do is. Community midwife gave advice on what to do to keep him in and what to look out for, but said I need to speak to the hospital to sort anything else out. Xx

Lilrach657 · 20/08/2021 17:35

Yea do ring up about the steroids, still can't believe they didn't offer u them xx

LauraDanxx · 22/08/2021 07:48

@Lilrach657 Hey how are you doing? I managed to speak with my community midwife yesterday and she sent me straight back up to hospital as I’m still getting pains. Baby was monitored for over an hour and all was good. I was finally given the first steroid injection and have another one this evening. (I’ve been told this should have all happened on Tuesday!!!). Thank you for encouraging me to keep trying. X

Lilrach657 · 22/08/2021 08:12

Hiya lauradanxx awk that's brilliant news so glad they finally done something😊 I think I'm going to call them up again today my backs getting worse to the point I can just about walk but still not contraction like pains so God knows what they will be able to do for me xx

Hi ladies! I know this thread isn’t active at the moment but just in case you read it.. I’m currently 32 weeks and have been having contraction pains for about a week now.. I’ve been putting them down to strong braxton hicks (4th baby so figured they just feel more intense) however, 2 days ago I lost my plug and have had increased discharge since.

The cramping and contraction pains are quite constant but not getting stronger and don’t stay in a pattern for long.

Ladies on this post, did you go on to have your babies early?

Thanks! Xx
