39 Weeks Movements

Hi MN

I’m 39 weeks noticed a change in movements but not reduced. It’s less Kung Fu kicks now but more twists, rolls and his head moving causing lightening crotch.
I did call triage and passed CTG and went for a scan which all came normal. Has anyone else noticed a difference in the actual movements but still frequent?

Yes, he’s got much less room so the movements can feel different. The key is that they don’t reduce though. It’s a myth that they move less close to birth. If you notice any reduction in movements you must call your midwife.

Yeah, at this point there is literally no room inside you so they can’t ‘kick’ like they used to.

Rolling back and forth and generally being squished is all they can do

I’m also 39w and having the exact same thing - all I’m feeling lately is a bit bulge (guessing baby’s bum) that shifts around

I really noticed his bum being pushed out a lot too. I will definitely keep an eye out if he goes quiet at any point.

I wanted to update my thread incase anyone came across it searching for something similar!

A few days after this post, I wasn’t happy with his movements, he had gone quiet but I could still feel him move. I went into triage and got induced. Labour was 2 & a half hours , super quick with gas & air. I now have a very healthy week old newborn weighing 8 lb 4 oz Smile
