Can’t stop eating junk! Week 10 - first time pregnancy

I can’t stop eating chocolate, takeaways, toast, carbs and all the stuff I normally try to avoid. A new point was ordering a Pizza Hut for one last night as my husband judged me eating his stir fry.

Is anyone else experiencing this? I feel so guilty about what I’m eating. Whenever I see my mum she tells me to eat healthy but I’m really struggling. I feel sick from the moment I wake up until I go to bed. No vomiting yet just some lovely dry heaving.

Really worried about what’s normal and what isn’t and whether my eating habits will affect my (v little) baby.

@choccrumpet That's really interesting to think about it! I wouldn't be surprised if pregnancy can have some permanent effects. Are you hoping you'll like it again or not? Smile

I'm 11 weeks now and past week or so have been able to actually have some colour back into my diet!

However like tonight when it's bad again, i snack on sour cream pringles - can't get enough!!

Funny about chocolate. As normally I'd only eat a square or two every once in a while.

Now i can't stop eating family sozed bars of fruit and nut 🙈🙈

choccrumpet · 20/08/2021 09:27

@jolota I think so, I miss enjoying it I think but if I don't eat it long enough I might just get used to it and not miss it that much 🤣

@HyphenCobra I think you either go one way or the other with chocolate 🙃

I'm always like this in the first trimester - crisps, salted peanuts and macdonalds fries help my morning sickness like nothing else. It normally settles down and I can eat better once I'm past that stage.

I am 17 weeks now and can certainly relate… things got better in the second trimester in that I started to crave healthy things again… first trimester I couldn’t even look at a vegetable and I hated that. I’ve now started Gousto meals and I am loving the variety and the veg.

However, I am still in this junk pattern especially in the evenings. I feel completely hard done by without at least chocolate and crisps and basically I’m eating way too many calories and too much crap. I feel so stuck in this loop and I know I just have to stop but I can’t 🤦🏻‍♀️

HopefulRose · 20/08/2021 17:58

@sociallydistained I totally hear this! It’s so weird for me because before I fell pregnant was eating so healthy and other than a bit of chocolate or a takeaway at the weekends, was really on track. Glad it’s moved on for you in second trimester. Just feels like so long away for me 😭

Today I’ve had a whole bar of galaxy for no reason other than I needed something nice to take away the never ending nausea and endless rounds of toast. I need to stop otherwise I’m going to gain so much weight 😭

I was also properly sick today for the first time so far. Actually preferred it to the endless nausea because I got a bit of respite straight after. What is my life coming to!

@Maighread is this your first pregnancy too? I am 100 per cent with you on the nausea. It is horrible! I feel like an actual slug. I’m glad I’ve been able to work from home so I’ve been able to hide away.

Yeah the Pregnacare jellies are better but I swear they make my nausea worse! Also Leave a weird metallic taste too. Fun fun!

@HopefulRose yep first pregnancy and I'm so lucky to be working from home as well as I'm really struggling lately. nausea has peaked so I'm vomiting twice a day almost now but keeping water down so can't really complain.
