Unexpected pregnancy - well-being tips please

I’m unexpectedly pregnant (10+5) in my mid-40s. Because this was unplanned I wasn’t massively focusing on my health and well-being so I’m keen for any tips to be in good physical health during my pregnancy.

I’ve started taking folic acid and I figure this is a good time to get back into Pilates and work on my core/pelvic floor. I also have a new dog so my walking has increased recently. I’m a bit overweight and not as fit as I’d like so I’d like to do what I can to improve this.

Is there anything you would highly recommend (food/supplements/exercise etc)? Or anything I should be reading up on?

Thanks!

Congratulations! I don't know really, I've got less healthy being pregnant as haven't felt up to much exercise and preferring sugar and salt to my usual healthy foods. But I'm taking the Zita West per trimester vitamins and DHA and would recommend - they're the more easily absorbable form of the vitamins and provide everything you need if you're eating a less than ideal diet. Also walking a lot with my dog 🥰 I'm 16 weeks now and tried to get back into running but it wasn't successful. Looking at yoga now and just adjusting any moves I find difficult

Oh, and I was told to do pelvic floor exercises now rather than waiting - so trying to do three reps of ten a day. Surprisingly difficult so I must not have much pelvic floor 😅

Thanks @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I know what you mean about food preference 🤦‍♀️ I expect I’m at quite high risk of GD so am hoping the nausea and general interest in beige food will disappear soon. Will definitely start pelvic exercises, suspect I’m like you!
