Hi,
I’m 5+4 weeks and had an early scan today.
I’m worried my gestational sac is small with ill-defined contents, not circular and no yolk sac. It’s an ivf pregnancy so I was expecting better.
Does anyone have any words of wisdom or success or failure?
I feel like we are heading towards MC#4. Plus had bit of a bleed tonight.

What did the sonographer say? Re: size, contents?

I’ve never seen a circular sac in any of my scans (mum of 2, had several early ones)

Depending on your weight, tech used and technique, poor image quality can be a thing.

Sending Flowers, I hope you’re wrong x

Givemebackmylilo · 18/08/2021 23:26

That's exactly what mine looked like at my 5 and 6 week scan

Givemebackmylilo · 18/08/2021 23:27

Should add, I also had a bleed.

Positive ending, now have a crazy 3 year old

Pleaseletitbeme · 19/08/2021 05:17

@Boombadoom @Givemebackmylilo
Thank you. The consultant didn’t really say anything. Just back for a scan at the end of the month.
I should add that all my pregnancy signs have disappeared too.

What was your bleeding like?

Are you still testing?

Givemebackmylilo · 19/08/2021 09:03

Yes, it is very difficult. I distinctly remember the doctor saying "it might be a baby, it might not. Only time will tell"

I left the hospital incredibly confused that day

physicskate · 19/08/2021 10:05

5 weeks is still early for symptoms.

I've been where you are. Today, you are pregnant. Tomorrow? No one can control tomorrow. Take it one day, one hour, one minute at a time.

Pleaseletitbeme · 19/08/2021 10:06

@Boombadoom
Not currently testing.
Fresh red blood no clots, nothing spectacular like previous MC.

Passing more dark bits of bloody/mucous today. But have developed incredibly itchy nipples 🤪

I hope everything works out Flowers my friend bled through both of her pregnancies x

Pleaseletitbeme · 20/08/2021 19:22

Having an awful bleed tonight.
No pain yet but lots of blood :-(

Sending lots of love and support your way OP x

PivotPivotPivottt · 20/08/2021 20:23

Was it an internal scan? That could be the cause of the bleeding. I hope everything works out for you.

Pleaseletitbeme · 20/08/2021 21:29

@PivotPivotPivottt yeah had internal scan on Wednesday. Small bleed then but about a teaspoon tonight (which looked so much but in reality was a small quantity). I’ve emailed the clinic as no help OOH and I don’t really know what to do or where to turn.

OP posts:
PivotPivotPivottt · 20/08/2021 21:56

I have read on here before that internal scans can cause bleeding. I'm sorry I don't have an advice but if it helps you in any way I can tell you that whenever I miscarried there was always pain along with it. The one time I had a massive bleed I've never seen anything like it, it turned out to be a healthy pregnancy.

I really hope you get the best outcome and wish I was more clued up and able to give you some advice. Would you be able to book a private scan over the weekend and see what's going on? I imagine it would be hard to be seen in the clinic or hospital over the weekend.

Pleaseletitbeme · 20/08/2021 22:58

@PivotPivotPivottt
Thank you for taking the time to write your message. It makes me feel better.
The bleeding has stopped. In reality it can only have been about a teaspoon full if that. How we I do have twinges in my lower abdomen. I’ve had a very busy day at work. Up and down, lots of walking and crawling, crouching and bending. I’m trying to think of positive things like- I wonder if the scan caused a little bit of blood pooling above my cervix (even though the consultant is so very very gentle), or whether I’ve overdone it at work.
Occasionally I’ve had an out of hours rely from the clinic. Realistically I know I’ve got to keep taking the medication and give it time.

5+6 is really early for symptoms and they can often come and go. My persistent nausea and vomiting didn’t start until 9.5 weeks. Waiting is really tough but stick with it, fingers crossed for you! Your follow up scans will have more detail and answers.

Dove88 · 21/08/2021 07:22

Fingers crossed for you! Just wanted to add that I had awful pain, like doubling over in pain, during the first few weeks of my pregnancy which was also ivf. Turns out it was just my ovaries recovering. I hadn't paid much attention to the pain after previous failed ivf cycles as I guess it's just more worrying when you know youre pregnant if that makes sense?

Pleaseletitbeme · 21/08/2021 11:57

@Discomummy22 @Dove88
Thank you.
I just feel so numb. I’ve been in this situation 3 times previously.
1 MMC
1 spontaneous MC
1 MC just after 2WW
I’m going to sit tight over the weekend then self refer to the epu on Monday (as the website says you can if you’ve had 2 or more miscarriages in a row).
Ive got one 4ab embryo left (these were 5AAs and I honestly thought we were sorted)

OP posts:
Pleaseletitbeme · 24/08/2021 17:48

Had scan at my local epau. What lovely lovely people.
Scan- gestational sac has enlarged and measurements match gestational age. However, although there is the hint of something, no yolk sac or embryo could be seen.
My bHCG is only 19000 and they would have expected it to be about 38000.
The plan is for them to have a consultant chat tomorrow morning and then we can make a plan. So still in limbo.
I have no pregnancy signs so I know what’s coming really.

Boombadoom · 26/08/2021 08:12

Thank you for your update. I expect that they definitely would have wanted to see a foetal pole at this stage. I hope you’re ok xx

LittleGwyneth · 26/08/2021 11:06

It's such a hideous time - I am so sorry you're going through this.

Pleaseletitbeme · 26/08/2021 11:27

Thanks guys….
It’s just the waiting game,… back in a week for repeat scan…
In the meantime I have the most awful all day sickness. So cruel when I know there is no baby there.

OP posts:
Pleaseletitbeme · 01/09/2021 12:53

Repeat scan today. There is definitely a baby but no heart beat (should be 7+4)
Back Monday for rescan.
The whole sorry saga continues.

OP posts:
Dove88 · 01/09/2021 13:16

Don't want to sound niave but there's still hope then? Isn't it relatively common not to see heartbeat at 7 weeks?
Hope youre doing OK and looking after yourself x
