Pregnancy sickness - blood in vom.

Hi all

I am 15 weeks pregnant and the sickness should stop any minute but it's not, it seems to be getting worse. Got really worried this morning when I got some very clear sign of blood in what I vom'ed. I called the Emergency Gynae unit who said this happens to a lot of women, burst blood vessel in the oesophagus etc. However they said that at this point I should get medication to stop the vomiting.

I am really concerned about taking any medication due to how unproven long term effects on babies are (Cyclizine has some evidence of cleft palate on babies), the thaladomide story, and the fact that I am probably days away from the sickness stopping (I hope!).

What are your views, what are the stats? Help!

I have had blood in vomit. You should keep an eye on it if it gets worse. Mine did settle down. I have never taken medication despite being told it is safe. Just me. But I would see a doctor to discuss your options. Your sickness should settle soon although I have a pregnancy where I was sick through all nine months (although only vomiting every 3rd day or so).

I have also had this, I wasnt offered anything not that I would have taken it, try and hold off a couple off weeks should settle down, though I was like Christie2 and was sick every other day for 9months (though not as severe)
Also try and avoid anything acidic I found that helped.
Goodluck and hope you feel better soon

I had this with my first child. I wasn't offered medication either!

I remember sitting, head over toilet bowl, thinking to myself "I am NEVER ever EVER going to be pregnant EVER again!"

I just felt so wretched.

However, here I am having baby no. 4!!! (thankfully my subsequent pregnancies have not made me so sick)!

I believe there are medications out there that are safe during pregnancy - hope your sickness either eases off, or your doctor can find you something to releive the sickness.
