Hi all

I had a growth scan 2 weeks ago at 28 weeks and was told my baby is just under the 10th centile and weighed 2lb

They had me back today and baby weighs 2lb 7 oz

They said she is too small, and have referred me for a doctor to scan me

Myself I have gestational diabetes, which is managed well
My bloody have been perfect and they are happy with me

Her scan showed she is head down, heart okay placenta seemed okay etc

It's worried me my baby might have something wrong with her, can anyone offer any support ot advice or anyone else had similar?

I had the same with DD. I had appointments weekly from 30 weeks - a scan one week and then dopplers the next as she was SGA (small gestational age). I was finally induced at 38 weeks due to suspected IUGR. I believe that the blood wasn't flowing through the cord as it should. When she was born, the cord was VERY short.

She was born on the 7th centile but thankfully JUST over the threshold for IUGR, so we got to go home as normal. I'm pregnant with #2 now and they've put me straight under Consultant care to monitor this one.

I'm 34 +4 currently and having growth scans every 2 weeks.
Baby is currently measuring just under the 10th centile and has done since my 20
Week scan,
I was seen by fetal Medicine at 24 weeks for the small growth, mainly his femur length that is measuring around 5 weeks behind.
They were happy that he's likely just small, especially as I'm only 4ft 11 but I have fortnightly growth scans & Dopplers to check blood flow to baby,
I'm likely to be induced just after 37 weeks x

I’m almost 33 weeks and my baby is very small, recently dropped to the 2nd centile. It is really worrying but I’ve been told to take these scans with a pinch of salt as they can be massively inaccurate. There’s also a very high chance it’s just a small baby and nothing to be concerned about, which im sure is the case for me.

Thank you for your replies.
I was just under the 10th centle now apparently I'm on the 3rd? Baby measures approx 2lb 7 0z which apparently they should weigh around 2lb 9 0z at 30 weeks so trying not to worry too much x

Check out the saving babies pathway- might explain a few clinical decisions moving forward.

How were your dopplers? X

Ahh OP, this must be so stressful for you! FWIW, I was monitored fortnightly for SGA and low amniotic fluid from 22 weeks, I cried so much and was so worried but baby caught up by 36 weeks and was born exactly 39 weeks measuring bang in 50 centile. And it turned out my fluid level was fine too. But it was really hard having to go through all the scans and all the ifs and maybes, they said there may be a problem, he may just be a small baby, he may catch up etc... As I said, he was the most average baby ever. (Well, he was absolutely extraordinary to me, but you know what I mean!) I hope yours will be a "all this worry for nothing" situation too! When is your next appointment? Thanks
