Maternity allowance

Starting to panic 😭 I started my job as an agency worker in April this year, I’m due in feb. I knew I wouldn’t get statutory maternity pay as I’m an agency worker but I knew I could claim for maternity allowance. Now my job wants to get rid of me .. I’m on a temp contract so this won’t be hard. If I get another job soon as an employee I think that ruins my entitlement to maternity allowance from doing the questions on gov website. Don’t know what to do 😞

If you are employed for 26 weeks in the 66 weeks before birth then you'd be eligible. In 13 of those 26 weeks you need to have earned at least £30 to qualify. It doesn't matter if you have different jobs as you'd submit payslips for the 13 weeks where you earned the most money.

Thank you so much, this has made me feel so much more at ease! I don’t know why it’s confusing me so much!
