Pregnant 6 weeks after C section? Is it possible?

Hi everyone,

I recently had an Emergency C Section at 25 weeks due to Pre Eclampsia. I was very ill and I had seizures. We lost our little boy it was devastating.

A few weeks later other half and I started having sex again using the pull out method. We always used this in the past for years and never had any issues. I know it was silly of us but we had been through so much… it just happened.

It’s now just over 6 weeks since my C section and I haven’t had a period yet. So I did a few pregnancy tests and I’m getting mixed results. First response and boots showing positive (quite faint line), clear blue digital showing negative.

Could I be pregnant or could it be leftover HCG? Has anyone experienced getting pregnant immediately after a C section? What happened?

I’m so nervous. I’ve called the midwife today who is going to call me back.

Thank you

You could be yes. You've been having unprotected sex. You might need to wait a few days for a clearer test but it could be that you are and people get pregnant weeks after a birth more than people think. Fingers crossed for you you get the answer youre wanting, and thoughts for you on the loss of your DS. Flowers Flowers

Yes of course you could be pregnant.

Posted too soon. Yes of course you could be pregnant but hopefully a test in a few days will give you answers.

So sorry for your loss.

The answer is yes you could, you’ve had unprotected sex. Pulling out isn’t a form of contraception.

Possibly but it's more likely leftover HCG. It can take quite a while for pregnancy tests to go back to normal as they are so sensitive.

How soon after the c section were you having sex to have a positive now? It's not instant.

Lottie231 · 17/08/2021 18:09

3 weeks after the C section.

It's possible then.

Very possible yes

I don’t think it’s that likely at all, and I’m sorry but more likely leftover HGC.
