Baby measuring 2 weeks behind

Hi all

I'm pregnant for the first time at 30. I have had two scans so far .. according to my workings out I should be 11+2 weeks however baby has only measured at 9+2 weeks today.
I also had a scan 12 days ago too and baby measured 8+4 which means there's only been 5 days of growth in 12 days.

I feel so anxious about this and I am just hoping this isn't a bad sign.. has anyone else experienced this?

Hi there, I was in the exact same position as you last year.. and unfortunately it didn't end well. Now that I'm with a consultant, she explained to me that growth is a sign of a successful pregnancy. If it's 3-5days behind dates.. it's fine. Any more than that is usually a bad sign acc to my obgyn

I'm sorry to read this but it doesn't sound like baby is growing sufficiently Thanks

Thanks for your reply, could you tell me a little bit more re dates etc? I'm just clinging on to the sonographer maybe not being accurate with dates :(

What advice did the sonographer give you OP? Why was the 2nd scan booked before 12 weeks? ( were any issues identifed in first scan?)

Hello

The sonographer didn't say anything about growth - just that my dates are likely wrong. He said it looks like a healthy single pregnancy - heart beat is at correct rate etc x

Hi OP, this happened to me during my guest pregnancy. I was sure of my dates but the synographer told me I must be mistaken. I was measuring 6 days behind and unfortunately It didn’t end well for me. Hopefully it’s different for you.

First pregnancy*

@Nicola2182 at 8 weeks + 5 I was measuring 6 weeks + 3 and I remember her confused face very vividly. And she said to me immediately that we'll call you for a rescan, but "pray for a miracle".

That was perhaps the worst wait of my entire life because by the time my rescan date came, my brown spotting had turned red & I just knew.

Also, if you're wondering if there's any medication you can take right now to speed up growth all mummy's want to see their little baby in their arms there's no medication for it. I asked my brother in law at that time if I could any progesterone or anything & he said no it's got to be taken right from the beginning so that your body adapts to it.

This time round I'm on medications and growth has so far not been an issue phew 😅

Hi - just to update this post and give some hope to other mums who are in the same position.
My private scans were inaccurate in my measurements and today the nhs measured me at 10weeks 5 days. She said baby is perfect and that I will have ovulated a week later than I thought. She said nothing to worry about :)
