I was just wondering if anyone had any experience of this? I have just got back from a scan at 6 weeks and the sonographer told me I have a small one. I obviously googled it and it doesn't seem good. I haven't had any bleeding but I'm a bit worried about it. I'm 35 and it's now been a while since I had a baby. Thank you for your help 😊

Hiya,

I had quite a heavy bleed at around 6 weeks.. and when I say heavy I mean heavier than a period, clots, flowing out (sorry)
So I went and had a scan and it was a SCH, baby was completely fine.
I had awful cramps and back pain (they said it's the uterus trying to expel the blood)
Once the bleeding stopped that was it, never came back as it obviously all came out and the haematoma was gone at my next scan.
I'm currently 15 weeks now and everything looks good.
Google is a scary place when you want to know anything about pregnancy. I remember reading it increases miscarriage etc but my obs doctor said they are very common and nothing to worry about unless it's very very large.
X

Just to add, I'm not sure if yours is a natural pregnancy or ivf. Mine is ivf and apparently they are very very common with ivf pregnancies. The majority of women who undergo ivf will have a SCH

I has a small one with my 5th pregnancy and I never bled and by the time I had my 20 week scan it was gone.
I understand your worry but if the hospital aren't worried then you should be fine and I say that after severe pre eclampsia, 2 premature babies, emcs, growth scans, 3 miscarriages and a hemorrhage in a different pregnancy, so I know when to worry.

Thank you so much to you both. That is very reassuring. I must keep away from the Google!

I had a big bleed at 6-12 weeks, clots and all sorts and was diagnosed with perinatal anxiety as a result of it as I just couldn't accept that I was going to stay pregnant... am now 33 weeks today. 💖 it's scary, but stay off google!!! Drink loads of water, try and rest and I found pomegranate juice (the expensive POM juice) worked wonders. There was no sign of SCH by 15 weeks xxx
