Just wondering if anyone has had the coil fitted before leaving the hospital after having their baby?

It's something I'm thinking about and would just like to know others experiences of pain/discomfort, whether you would recommend getting it straight away or waiting for few weeks etc

When I went for my 6 week check up post birth, the doctor really seemed to be pushing the coil as a form of contraception onto me! She mentioned it 3 times even though I said I didn't like the sound of it and would prefer to use condoms, she then proceeded to give me some more info about it incase I changed my mindConfused

Doctors are encouraged to push the LARCs ( implant, coil etc) now rather than the pill.
I don’t really see what contraceptive can be pushed on the PN ward though for immediate use? Isn’t the pill 3 weeks minimum post delivery so presumably the implant or injection would be the same ? Not sure maybe it’s all changed now.
However I would be astonished if any maternity unit was happy to put a coil in immediately/soonish after birth. The infection risk not to mention the sizing etc wouldn’t be accurate.
