Just wondered as I do like to use one but wanted to make sure it was safe?

I don't think it's recommended. Perhaps you should check with your midwife.

Personally I would leave it alone while you have a little person insitu.. even if it's not deemed harmful, (and it may be)..all those vibrations might be a little alarming for the poor soul!!

as long as there is no reason for you to abstain from sex / orgasm during pregnancy

e.g irritable uterus

threatened miscarriage

placenta previa

Camillathechicken · 29/11/2007 17:26

netdoctor says it is ok!

hollygiz1 · 29/11/2007 17:33

just go to bed with a good book instead.

VictorianSqualor · 29/11/2007 18:43

I can't see how a vibrator would be any better or worse than having sex when pregnant.

(better or worse for the baby I mean, I can understand how they differ in the other way!)

Camillathechicken · 29/11/2007 19:21

the baby is cushioned by the cervix which is 2.5 cm long, plugged with mucus, then 2 membranes, amniotic fluid and the uterus.. so i don;t see how it could be harmful.....

wardrobemistressakasugarfree · 29/11/2007 19:34

Do it,then later you can get one of those vibating swing chairs for baby, should settle him/her a treat!

spugs · 29/11/2007 19:37

ive used mine in my last pregnancy and this one read in a magazine that its perfectly safe as long as its spotless

I understand that it is ok unless you have been advised by a doctor to abstain from sex due to miscarriage risk.
Enjoy!!!

Just to add to this.... It is FINE. Infact baby actually likes it ( according to research) ( i have read a book called the secret life of the unborn child, it goes into allot of depth about everything on the outside affecting the unborn in different ways).... because you like it you let off the feel good chemicals, so baby likes it too. It doesn't get disturbed, it is no different to having and baby doesn't come out with perverse sexual thinking either.....

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 29/11/2007 20:45

Fear not then Holly.. twas just me who thought caution might be advised.. but was clearly talking out of my.. er, fanjo?

shinyshoes · 29/11/2007 22:03

I'm glad someone asked this question as I've been wondering the same but have been too embaressed to ask .

I have been using one, (i'm 35 weeks) and have had no problems although I do avoid deep penetration

rascal1979 · 30/11/2007 22:57

Just reading this post and wondering if the 'no deep penetration' is for Vibrators only or also when using the 'real thing'

3rdontheway · 01/12/2007 10:29

I nearly choked on my toast when I read this!

macdoodle · 01/12/2007 10:40

Well I do for goodness sake whever not --- and WTF is deep enetration how do you judge do you tell your partner not too deep...unless you have one of those mammoth huge type ones ;) I just have a bog standard rabbit ;)
