Nausea @ 6/7 weeks

I’m nearly 7 weeks pregnant and the nausea is killing me, I feel broken and it’s ONLY been 5 days! I’m managing not to be sick but the nausea and gagging is so intense.
Haven’t been able to leave bed. I thought it would come in waves but it’s constant. Only eases really late at night to be replaced with cramps.
Tried everything.. sea sickness bracelets, ginger, coke, crackers, tea, toast. Went for a slow walk but only resulted in kneeling down needing to be sick.
I’m worried how on earth I will go to work in two weeks (teacher) I can’t bare to think about my commute there, let alone teaching. Those poor kids!
Anyone else struggling? Any tips? Will the GP give me any medication or is it too early?

I found out in my second pregnancy that it’s best not to fight the sickness if you can. 9/10 times I’d feel much better after being sick. If I fought it I’d be poorly all day. Also, if it is severe your GP can give you some meds to help. But it may take a little while to find out what works for you.

Hi! I’m currently only 11 weeks and a few days, I have been vomiting since 5 weeks 😭 drs prescribed me medication as I was so dehydrated and the medication is amazing for the physical sickness.. I’m hardly being sick now.. was being sick up to 15 times a day beforehand it was awful!
But even with medication my nausea and dizziness etc is still so bad, I’ve been signed off on the sick and I’m literally bed bound 😭 I feel for you I really do! X

The GP can give you medication but like PP says, it may take time to find one that works for you,. I tried Metachlopramide and cyclizine and neither really did much, in fact the cyclizine seemed to make it worse! I ended up in hospital on a drip and they gave me prochlorperazine which really did work and i felt much better after a couple of days.

i was still being sick though but it was nowhere near as bad as it was in the first instance. Im sorry you feel so rubbish, i would call your GP-you may have to be signed off if you're still like this ina couple of weeks, i used to gag all the journey to work and its so dangerous so please don't try xx

It's so hard OP - I'm at 9 weeks and it's gotten more intense lately with a fear of vomiting I'm constantly wretching.
If you can get sea-bands for Mum's they are a godsend ! I still feel nauseaus but not nearly as bad without. Little and often and eat whatever you can xx

Maighread · 13/08/2021 12:18

Woops just spotted you tried the bands ! Definitely GP time or chat to midwife to see what they recommend. Sending you hugs !

I am exactly in the same position and also a teacher! The thought of returning to the classroom away is already filling me with dread.
I have been terrible last week and wasn’t keeping anything down. My only advice is speak to the gp and get some antiemetics. I’m on cyclizine and metoclopramide atm. I’ve also been forcing myself to eat in the day. It’s so hard to when you feel so sick but having an empty stomach is the worst thing and will make the cycle much more difficult. Stick to bland carbs. I’ve found the inside of baked potatoes and avocado on toast to really help. Feel better x

Hi ladies! Thank you so much for your helpful replies. Really cheered me up.
It’s been awful and getting worse. Throwing up about 10 times each day now. The worst time is afternoon/evening. I’ve tried two medications but hoping to try a new one this week.
Dreading work.. I know there’ll be a lot of pressure for me to go in for the kids. Physically I just don’t know if it’s possible!! I went for a walk this morning but had to turn around as had thrown up twice in a sick bag.

I also feel guilty I am doing absolutely NOTHING positive for the baby. I am missing eating healthy and working out. Just not an option at the moment! I can barely handle my folic acid and vitamins.

How are you all feeling?
Hope you’ve improved @Lzgs with school coming up?

Had the worst day today with constant nausea, vomiting and headache. Going back to work on Tuesday and have no idea how I’ll cope 😭
I empathise with the missing eating healthy. My diet consists of a lot of potato smileys, plain pasta and white bread at the moment...it’s grim! Although I’ve started having cereal with lots of berries, seed mix and oat milk (hating the thought of cows milk atm) and that seems to stay down well.
Fingers crossed for feeling better soon!
