Membrane Sweep

I am 39 weeks tomorrow and today i went for my midwife app. She perfomed a membrane sweep on me and said she stretched me to 2cm and that my cervix was very thin and stretchy. Since that i have had contraction like pains and brown discharge, she believed it would be effective as i was already 1.5cm dilated before she stretched me and my cervix was very very stretchy, she also said she could feel my baby which must mean she is very low. Can anybody let me know whether this means it will be effective please, i lost my ‘show’ last night too she confirmed today :)

It's sounds positive, I had a sweep at 39 at 1pm she could stretch to 4cm and had bloody show after, but had no signs of labour until my waters went the following day at 16.45 baby born at 19.11. Try and keep active and get on a ball if you have one. Fingers crossed for you

ive had a lot of brown discharge since dont know what that means, ive been having contractions that seem to be getting more intense now and sorry tmi but a bit of diarrhea, im on the ball now. Thankyou so much :)

All sounds like things are moving in the right direction, try and get some sleep and if nothing happing over night back on the ball and out for a walk in the morning

Hello OP, I'm 39+3 and just had a membrane stretch and sweep. Sounds very similar- I'm almost 2cm dilated, the consultant said the cervix was very soft and stretchy, I've already lost my mucus plug and that the baby was fully engaged. It wasn't very painful. I just had it done two hours ago, so far just having a little dark blood and mild cramping. Keep us updated on how it goes for you!

had another sweep today, she stretched me even further, came home had quite intense pains and thrown all my tea up, lost a pluggy looking thing wondering if this is part of my plug🤞🏼

@Ellk2001 that looks promising! I was told I could have another sweep on Tuesday, which is my due date. I guess that's fine if nothing happens as I'm not in a big rush.

Im in such bad pain now somethings defo happening, can feel it all in lower stomach and lower back, been very sick too and oh really i wish you all the best of luck xxx
