I had my 20 week anatomy scan and the doctor shows concern because the baby is avg on the smaller side. She mentioned her legs are smaller ranging 5th% torso 10th%. They asked if I had short family members which I do but me and my husband aren’t short. I’m nervous because they mention they have to discard all worse case scenario. It can be a chromosome problem, preclampsia, placenta, High blood pressure. My blood pressure is normal and I don’t have preeclampsia. My nuchal translucency scan for Down syndrome came at low risk also the NIPT came back normal. I’m so nervous because they also mentioned I can terminate my pregnancy at 23 weeks because of there findings if I don’t want to take the risk!??? I didn’t expect to get this news and I can’t stop crying. Has anyone had a similar experience?

Try to remember that some babies are just smaller than others, just like adults are. This may just be what it right for your baby, but it is hard to know that from a single scan.
What have they suggested about additional checks? Do PM me if you prefer.

Can you afford a private scan with a consultant? It can be really useful to get a second opinion. Often the clinics will list the research interests of the consultants and you could look for one with a particular interest in fetal growth rates or similar so that you can be sure that he or she is up to date with the latest relevant research. You’d have more time to ask questions, too.
