Hi all.
I'm 32 weeks pregnant due the 3rd October with second baby.
At my last scan I was 30 plus weeks and baby was measuring 3 weeks bigger than should be putting my date at 13th September. I know they don't usually change dates around this stage but because baby was getting so big I keep thinking I am going to go early and have even went on maternity leave earlier than planned (also due to the fact I am in a lot of pain with sciatica). I keep getting feelings of electric shocks Down below as some would describe as lightening pains, and also a lot of pressure. Has anyone had any experience of going early with second baby? I'm just scared of the unknown and due to the fact my first Labour was very quick I had my waters broken for me and 3 hours later baby appeared.

I was one week early with both first and second baby, my first was also due 3rd October but she came on 27th September.

With my second baby I had a lot of heavy pressure below, felt like baby was going to fall out any minute and like you had a lot of lightening feelings. She also arrived a week early as I mentioned but in super speed, my whole labour from first twinge of contraction to birth was 2 hours 20 minutes.

I’m currently 35 weeks with my 3rd and have a strong feeling I will give birth earlier than due date. The pressure feeling is even stronger than the first two times, my bump is huge so feels a tonne on my cervix and generally feeling extremely uncomfortable and can barely walk from agonising pain in back and down there.

Good luck with your delivery and hope all goes well

Hi thanks for sharing.
Yeah everything you have described i have been feeling. Especially the pain and in supposed to have 7 and a bit weeks left and I'm not sure I can cope with this back pain and pressure for much longer...
I hope all goes well for you also.

Hello! I am due 2nd October with my second although have always thought it would be a bit earlier. I have consistently measured a week ahead since the midwife started measuring my bump. I too have the heavy feeling and lightning crotch and today was getting very subtle tightenings in my lower tummy throughout the day. My prediction is I may go a week early but wouldn’t expect anything earlier, although the waddle is real 🤣 keep us updated with how you get on! Good luck!

My first was three weeks early so I was convinced I would be early with my second too. I was nearly a week overdue- it seemed to go on forever & I was so uncomfortable. So I would say get everything ready but try not to get too set on being early because it may not happen 😬

I'm measuring two weeks ahead at 27 weeks. My midwife was shocked at how big my bump was so measured me (not supposed to until 28 weeks here)

We had a good chat and decided that if it continues I'll have a c section. Not my ideal but I'd rather not delivery a 10lb + baby.

Are you having regular growth scans?

Mammyofasuperbaby · 13/08/2021 08:02

I had the same feelings with my second (pressure and lightning crotch) from around 28 weeks and it was because his head was pressing on my pelvic nerves but he felt like he was going to be born early like his brother (33 weeks)
Thankfully he was born at 36 weeks because he stopped growing, so he was still premature like his brother but only by a few days.
I asked the consultant about the pains and she said they are very common and are related to babies position against nerves and can't be used to predict early labour

Mammyofasuperbaby · 13/08/2021 08:03

Both of mine were c sections and I've never been even remotely close to labour

Thanks everyone.
Yeah having regular growth scans last scan I had was at 30 + 6 weeks as had reduced movements so they did scan and babys estimated weight was 4lbs 7ozs already! I was tested at 21 weeks for gestational diabetes, it came back negative but when I said to my midwife the test was carried out at 21 weeks she said it was to early and should of been carried out between 24 to 26 weeks which made me worry a little but haven't had any appointments to be made for another test but I have another growth scan on Tuesday so hoping maybe I get more answers then.

I was convinced my second would come early. I ended up going overdue and begging for an induction!

Bellyrumble · 13/08/2021 22:56

I’m apparently due 28sept based on 12w scan but my lmp date says 23rd. I have pcos so absolutely no idea when I ovulated so no way of knowing!

However I’m supposed to be 33 weeks and measuring 35. No growth scans or anything mentioned so I’m just hoping I’m due earlier than we think rather than having a whopper 11lb baby! I feel ready but this is my first baby so god only knows Confused
