Just wondered if anyone else has been in this position, had a scan today as been having some uncomfortable pains and previous miscarriages so had an early scan.

Saw one baby, heart beat, happy as Larry in there, however the sonographer has said that I have a small pocket of blood 8x9x7mm in my uterus.

They didn't really have a lot to say about it when I asked and said it's small so try not to worry, it can happen.

But I feel like taking this with a pinch of salt as the sonographer couldn't find either of my ovaries !

Anyone ?

I had a massive amount of bleeding at just before 11 weeks. Heavier than my heaviest ever period. Got sent for scan and they found a haematoma measuring something like 10cm×10cm×3cm. Was bonkers big.

But they seemed fairly non plussed about it. I carried on bleeding heavily for a couple of days and then lighter for weeks. It was still there (but much smaller) at my 20 week scan. My son was born at 39+5 entirely oblivious to all the fuss!

It's almost certainly nothing and everything will be absolutely fine. Definitely stay away from Google though! Fingers crossed you have a lovely, uneventful pregnancy!

Congratulations!

It’s fairly common, I had a large haematoma that caused bleeding early on in my first pregnancy. It showed on the ultrasound scan and neither the sonographer or midwife were concerned, it had gone by my 12 week scan. That pregnancy is now an almost 4yr old boy, peacefully snoozing away in bed with about a million plastic dinosaurs in tow.

It is unlikely to be anything of concern, stay away from Dr Google! Flowers

Congratulations lovely!

I had this with 2 of my pregnancies. Both times it got reabsorbed/lost somewhere between 10-20 weeks. It isn’t anything to worry about unless you start to experience heavy bleeding.

If you do experience heavy bleeding, try not to panic and call your midwife. If one of my pregnancies I did have a heavy bleed but all was fine on a scan and it was just the pool of blood exiting my body. In the other pregnancy I had no bleeding at all and it entirely reabsorbed on its own. Xx

I had a bleed at 6 weeks, private scan at 7 where it showed what the sonographer said was a shrinking sub chorionic haematoma (?) and I wouldn't notice anymore. It was at the top of my womb, unfortunately it grew again and at 14 weeks basically couldn't hold anymore and I started to bleed badly, nearly lost my life and sadly lost the baby too. One thing I noticed was I started to show very early and felt very full and heavy. That said, I know from MN that I am in a very small minority and I've never seen one of these questions where people haven't said that their baby isn't sleeping upstairs somewhere. I wish you the best of luck and I definitely would be booking in for more scans just to keep it in check Thanks

I had a very sizeable one in my latest pregnancy. About 11weeks I bled heavily. The bleeding soaked the night time pad I put on during the course of a 15min car ride to the hospital. I definitely thought that I had lost the baby. They scanned me and he was wriggling away in there, absolutely fine! I bled for a further 6 weeks.
He's now asleep next to me at 8 months old Smile

Thank you everyone, trying to keep positive.

Do you think the fact that my progesterone level was 146 is relevant? They said it was off the chart, which can more often than not point to multiples but there's definitely only the one - the bloods we're done two weeks before they found this blood pocket

I had one at my 6 weeks scan, they told me I may absorb it or have a bleed but don’t worry too much. I had some browny discharge a few weeks later which I’m assuming was it. No issues since, not been mentioned on any of my other scans and I’m 20 weeks now.
