I'm 15 weeks pregnant and last night had a sudden gush of bright red blood. I went to hospital and was scanned in EPU who said baby is fine but it looks like a very small part of the placenta has come away. They also warned me they can see more blood to come and to expect that over the nect few days.

I am petrified, the doctor sent me straight home and my midwife didn't seem too concerned but I want to know if this has happened to anyone and turned out okay? This is my first baby and I feel so lost..

Please help

I can't give you experience but what I can say is they would not of sent you home if they was even slightly worried. Try to relax x

I had a huge bleed at work at about 32 weeks but had been diagnosed with placenta previa - all was absolutely fine. I was kept a close eye on (and actually admitted to hospital for 2 weeks) then had a c section at 38 weeks. This was more because of the previa meaning they were concerned my placenta would come away entirely though, so probably very different to your situation.

They wouldn’t have sent you home if they were really concerned so try not to worry.

Thank you both! I keep trying to tell myself that they would have kept me in, DP was on shift and managed to come in with me and he keeps reminding me that the consultant wasn't worried at all
Hopefully a few days resting will really help Flowers
