Passing clots early pregnancy

Hi 👋
I’m new to this.
Feeling very desperate for a bit of reassurance if anyone can relate to positive outcomes from threatened miscarriage. I’ve recently gone through a second round of IVF treatment. Last Monday (9/8 we received our positive result). HCG levels were 209.

I then started to bleed bright red blood last Wednesday morning at 5 weeks and it’s still happening a week on. On the Wednesday morning I was in a bit of pain and passed a medium sized clot (dark red with a bit of grey/white colouring on). I was so scared that it was our embryo I wrapped it up and kept it incase the unit needed to see it, but they never asked to have a look.
We called our IVF unit and managed to get in on the Thursday morning for bloods. They came back at 564 and the nurse said they were just going to leave us until our first scan on the 18/8. The bleeding has been enough to half fill a panty liner daily but not a heavy enough bleed to fill a sanitary pad. It’s been enough to be concerned - started out light pinky blood then went darker / bright red/ sometimes pink again now and bright red, this has sometimes been accompanied with a few small clots... and drops in the toilet when going for a wee.

I’m petrified that we’ve miscarried.

If anyone has experienced the same kind of thing please let me know and what you’re experience outcome was.

Thank you

Hi OP. Really hope this works out OK for you. I had bleeding throughout my pregnancy due to a cervical polyp that I didn't know I had. Gets a bigger blood supply during pregnancy apparently. Somtimes would be very heavy bleeding with massive clots. I now have my lovely baby.

From my crazy googling when I didn't know what was wrong-i think there are quite a few things the bleeding could be that don't nessessary mean the worst. I know it's really hard/impossible but try not to worry if you are not having any cramping. I used to get checked out when bleeding was heavy and they always said that no pain was a good sign. I know you said that you had some pain before so I hope this has stopped. I am wishing you all luck in the world. X

Ah OP you have my sympathies, I know it's torture to wait around not really knowing what's going on. Lots of people I know have had bleeding with clots and somehow everything has been fine, and I've read loads of stories on here from women who've experienced the same. But for me personally any time I've had bleeding with clots, with or without pain, I've miscarried. I'd call your IVF unit again or maybe even EPU if they would see you and try at least get some more bloods if they won't scan you sooner, if you're still bleeding a week later then they should really want to investigate that more I think instead of making you wait. I really hope its a good outcome for you, wishing you lots of luck Flowers

Thank you for getting back to me.

The bleeding has slowed down and pretty much stopped since Wednesday morning.
I decided to do a test this morning and sadly it’s completely negative ☹️.

This is the clot/tissue I passed last Wednesday 4/8 and sadly I think it was our embryo. Sorry for the graphic imagine. x
